  1. T. Rowe Price T.O. Ice T
  2. Or indoctrination by the 'Art' lobby.
  3. "If Penn State has any guts, they will refuse his offer of resignation. " C'mon dude, that' completely over the top,and just flat wrong. That would be the right thing for Paterno to do; too bad he didn't.
  4. With the exceptions of a few warhorses (Cliburn, Pops, etc), most classical vinyl one finds second-hand is usually in pristine condition. Probably played once and returned to the shelf. Some jazz records are invariably trashed. Tops are Jimmy Smith LPs. I think that's because they are such great party music.
  5. The last announced plan was for an annual issue. Now it sounds like they will do 2 issues a year. I think that's better. Hard to cover a field as fluid as this in a yearly issue.
  6. The Get Back reissue, but I like it fine:
  7. OK, sorry about that. The jacket on mine still says "electronically reprocessed" anyway.
  8. I'v heard therapy might help in such cases.
  9. Winkin', Blinkin', and Nod Rip Van WInkle Henry Winkler
  10. This album still sounds out front; just a great album:
  11. I also bought the Casals Original Jacket Collection, 10 CDs, for $20.95 from an Amazon Z-seller.
  12. This one looks to have gone OOP already. That's a pity. Unlike most of these boutique boxes this one strikes me as one that deserves a permanent availability. Price has already more than doubled Good thing I was looking for these albums when it came out! News update: I checked Amazon last week and the price had mysteriously dropped back to what it was, or thereabouts. Needless to say, I hit the order button promptly. Got it for $32.29. Bought the Ligeti Project for good measure too . Perhaps Sony decided to continue the box, or additional supply was found? Grab it while you can; the situation might change back.
  13. That's the one I have. Blue label with the "b" in white. Actually, I felt obligated to weigh in, if just for appearance sake
  14. I'm going to hazard a guess here and say that when the full facts are known, the situation will be found to be even worse that we think--and it is utterly horrible now. I'm primarily thinking about the abortive prior police investigation; would not be surprised to learn of influence peddling, obstruction of justice, and suppression of evidence to save "JoePa", the football program, and the image of Penn State. Something went wrong there. Frankly, they are still trying to save JoePa's ass. I suspect that the decision not to indict him is as much political as evidentiary. I also agree with JetMan. College football and b-ball are massively corrupt, and need thorough reform. Unfortunately, chances of that happening widely are slim to none: too much money, too little respect for higher education, to generate real reform.
  15. Something spacy before bed:
  16. Tough love via piano keys:
  17. Yes, a Mbari insert and the CD.
  18. I really admire Bennink's seemingly undimmed sense of fun, experimentation, and that certain wildness Bennink always seem to impart to his activities. Recent LP with Brodie West and Terrie Ex. I much enjoyed it.
  19. Finlayson is ho-hum for me, but Irabagon positively puts me off. I like Ches Smith's album but have not seen him live. I think Halvorson's music was very well-served in "Cracklenob" with Radding and Wooley. The group above sounds like one one of the constantly mutable arrangements of NY players.
  20. Orange Julius Orange Crush O.J.
  21. Burroughs (CD, Jan-1995, Rhino) UPC: 081227184827 $3 PM Sent.
  22. He certainly was. He brought four different editions of the Decoding Society into the Caravan of Dreams in the mid-1980s, and I was fortunate to hear 15 or 16 sets of these groups. And in all those sets, he only played one drum solo! Yes, I can believe that. I think he was more interested in total musical approach than soloing. You can see that on "Eye On You." Something to wind up the listening session.
  23. I suspect those are steady sellers and in no need of a sale to move stock. The sale prompted me to pick up Braxton's Ninetet at Yoshi's 1997, Vols. 1, 2, and 3 (I already have Vol. 4). I also picked up Braxton 4 Compositions (Ulrichsberg) 2005;Phonomanie III (4-CD box). Oh, also, Braxton Composition N.96.
  24. Just bought two groups of 10 each. Got the email from Leo too, minutes later. Is Leo sitting at his computer all day? Nice of Leo to send quick notification. I already had quite a few that were on the list (bought mostly at full price), but took advantage of the opportunity to stock up on some Braxton sets and a few individual titles I did not have. Even with the fairly heavy shipping charge, came to $5.59 per disc, which is not bad at all, in fact quite good.<div><br></div><div>Wanted to add: &nbsp;folks in the UK should REALLY benefit from this sale due to the low shipping charge (or does VAT diminish the difference)? </div>
  25. Check out the line-up on this album: Ronald Shannon Jackson, drums; Billy Bang, violin; Byard Lancaster, alto and soprano saxophones; Charles Brackeen, tenor and soprano saxophones; Vernon Reid, acoustic and electric guitar; Erasto Vasconcelos, percussion; Melvin Gibbs, electric bass; Bern Nix, electric guitar RSJ doesn't get much attention on these pages, but the guy was doing some cool things on the cusp of the 80s.
