  1. Oh darn it!!! :bwallace2:
  2. This ain't the first Sanford and Son marathon. Just about every comedy (the best ones) that are over 10 years old have had their "turns" at being on a marathon of some sort. Sanford and Son is not the only one doing a "repeat." Of course, nobody can watch them all but my reference was not to Grady "without" Fred but rather with him. This is at least the second time they have done a Sanford and Son marathon. I disagree about Grady. IMHO, the earlier episodes were funnier because they are within the context of Fred being a junkyard owner who is willing to do anything to get ahead,... I guess earlier, what I loved about the show was Foxx's unprofessional presence and how he would have strange, unpredictable reactions to things. Agreed, in the beginning they were always testing new ground.
  3. Kobe misses last shot of game, Cleveland wins by one!!!
  4. Some of the best shows were when Grady was in the show. Most of the old good shows get their turn in the marathon series; All In The Family, Beverly Hillbillies, Three's Company, etc., etc., etc., so why not Sanford and Son? All will get their turn.
  5. Guy, don't worry, if you are watching March Madness, you can see there will be a really good recruitment class for the NBA. Looks like some BIG guys are back too.
  6. Don't believe I ever said I played Milt Jackson parts verbatim, why?? because I couldn't. I may have said I tried to. Most vibists can't and when they do, it is very stiff. That must have been someone else who said that. Now, having said that, it is not a put down of other vibists, why? because most other vibists started trying to emulate Milt. Milt himself, played exactly like Hamp until he broke away and started a whole revolution of vibists, including Bobby, Roy Ayers, Lem Winchester, Victor Feldman, Dave Pike and a host of others. Bobby distinctly has his own voice and has had for a very long time but that does not negate where he started from. Bobby himself, as great as he is, will tell you he could not "play" the music the way Milt did (inside out backwards and forwards). It did not diminish him one bit. Believe me, most all vibists while learning and trying to emulate Milt, will eventually voluntarily or otherwise attempt to break away from th exact sound Milt has. It is a natural progression. I think vibists are more critical of these analogies because we understand the instrument way more than the average listener or even a lot of other musicians. And this is not a negative.
  7. Like someone else earlier said "This is a no brainer" Why?? Because all are great BUT.. Milt Jackson is the only vibist who actually "played" the instrument. The rest executed either technically, rhythmically or experimentally. Milt made the instrument sing to you. No other had that potential except maybe Lem Winchester (who died too soon). Yes, Bobby was really out there pushing the envelope and was daring but the instrument did not speak to you. You knew he was executing frontiers on the vibes but not necessarily playing the vibes. Cal Tjader was the best at incorporating his vibes into the genre he was following, latin jazz, but again, the instrument did not quite sing to you, he merely executed very well within the context of the style of music (which a lot of other vibists cannot do even in latin jazz). In short...... Milt was "in touch" with the instrument, the individual sound of each note, no matter what tune or progression. It was not just the blues, but him. Bruce
  8. As I said before, the rights of both the father and the mother are trumped (as they should be) by the rights of the child. There's no excuse for the child to have to suffer just because daddy doesn't want to pay. I'd be all in favor of daddy suing momma for "fraud," but either arresting momma or having her pay some settlement to dad would only be detrimental to the child in the end. This is a complex moral/ethical/legal issue in many ways - and it's often not fair to either mom or dad - but it's often quite simple when it comes to doing what's best for the child. NO disrespect to you but you are avoiding the issues like the rest. Why is it so politically correct to say the child would suffer if you pursue "fraud" on the part of the mom? Why shouldn't she pay if that is the case?? The DA's in every American town lick their chops at relection time by "going after" dads who do not pay for whatever reason. Why is it okay to put them in jail or prison. Won't the child suffer from having a "debtor felon father" just as much?? In a society that is now deeply engrossed in "male bashing" isn't it time to break that mold?? If dad's are so important, then why do we strip them of their manhood so quickly and publically, especially in the eyes of the child?? I don't really aim to cut off any bodys balls here but when is at least one other male on the bulletin board going to speak up for the men???
  9. EXCUSE ME, When we all get through with the "politically right" things to say maybe the thought just might appear that the guys are still getting screwed. There seems to be agreement on "consensual sex, consensual birth of babies, consensual responsibilities, agreement on it is not the babys fault, agreement that there will be no baby from the sexual act BUT none of us are addressing the rights of the "father." What are his rights?? What are the rights of a man "entrapped?" What are the rights of a man who is deliberately tricked into planting his seed when the "consensual agreement" was NOT to have a baby?? What are the rights of the man who did not want a baby but would readily STEP UP TO THE PLATE if there is one and the agreeing woman gets an abortion based on her decision alone?? Just some questions guys. The general opinion I keep reading here is that everything is okay if a guy just pays his child support and shuts up.
  10. Well, all of this sure sounds like it comes down to those famous words that just about every father has told his son at one point or another "Son, keep your dick in your pants until you are ready to settle down." PERIOD Some of the old school ways really worked.... at least you didn't become any kind of a victim until........ you got divorced and then you find out the power of women.
  11. You misunderstood, the woman lies so she can have the sex. She doesn't want a child but has one. You didn't address the part of the hypothesis, that being the man's loss, his child aborted, the laws (?)protecting him.
  12. Okay, so he should pay, okay, if you play, you pay, BUT She lied, she entrapped him, There are laws against bait and switch AND, what about this, She lies about not being able to have a child, he says he would want the child if it happens, she has a child and gets an abortion on her own and by her own decision, NOW what rights does the man have now that HIS child has been taken from him????? What restitution does he get?? who helps him deal with the loss?? Wake up guys, this nation is one f**ked nation when it comes to double standards. What is good for the goose does NOT mean the same for the gander. It all depends on who you are, where you are and what your social status is. This will be a very interesting case.
  13. DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT... There is a great group of guys coming out of college this year..... Warriors will get some good talent for that rebuilding task.
  14. Yeah, I forgot about the game the played the night before, 98-96 or something like that. Well lets see if they can win 5-6 in a row (they don't need to win 12-13 straight all the time) before losing another one. That will keep them on top of everyone.
  15. OK SS1, Go ahead, this is your day... Lakers certainly deserve to have their followers talk smack all day. I for one, am greatly disappointed in the Pistons losing that game. Personally I think they have lost some of their chemistry since the last trades.
  16. NO WAY, The Heat by playoff time will be much better than Suns and a tad better than Mavs. Suns cannot play playoff basketball. Mavs are thoroughly untested deep in playoffs, they are a question mark this year. So, barring any important injuries, it will be the Spurs and Pistons in a repeat NBA series. The Knicks just plain stink right now. Yes, all broadcasters has confirmed that "everyone" on the Knicks roster hates Marbury; why??? The biggest mistake I.Thomas made was hiring Larry Brown. I said it before it was finalized and I say it again; Larry Brown is overrated. IF HE IS A TEACHER as he proclaims all the time, then let him go back to college ball where it is even more important. He was lucky the Pistons bought into his program, but as you can see, there are a lot of NBA players that don't. Right now he is just whining every time he gets on camera. :bwallace2:
  17. Yeah, my fear is if Chauncey gets hurt, then they only have Lindsay. Arroyo was a true point guard, albiet not quite as great but, a true point guard. This may come to haunt the Pistons. Then again, Chauncey is soo strong, it would take an awful lot to put him out for an extended period of time.
  18. MY, MY, MYYY Pistons still cruising toward another championship, Eastern Conference Champs for sure. The NBA Finals is another story and another life of its own. Go Pistons BUT I also wonder about dumping Arroyo. Since Lindsay has been back he has been doing some strange things.... trying to be the ultimate playmaker. He should relax and let it flow....
  19. Niceeeee..... (the piano blues, that is)
  20. broken play my ass, call it like it is, Kobe lost the ball! The only "play" was in Kobe's head. No excuses..... it was just an "all star" entertainment game, comon!
  21. I agree SS1, Pistons have 9 losses and 42 wins. There are 31 games left and the Pistons would have to go 28 and 3 to make it 70 wins even. Won't happen... too many losses at this point...... :bwallace2:
  22. Thanks, unless Jim can remember the old Fort Wayne Pistons, then I am the #1 fan on this bb.... :bwallace2:
  23. Man, that is cold, are you suggesting an incident similar to Tanya Harding's debacle??? Shame, shame, shame.... The Pistons will win anyway..
  24. Nooooo, it is not missing any bars. The keyboard is laid out exactly like a piano. This vibe is a 3 octave vibe F to F. Also IMHO, the Deagan is not "darker" than Musser, somebody really got that wrong. Deagan is a very "alive sound", a "sweet" sound and if you play jazz, it is a perfect fit. Bruce I have a 582 and lost a 1100 in the San Bernardino fires in 2003.
  25. As much as I like the Clippers, they had to lose tonight. The Pistons are the cream, now at 40
