Reports are that Joe D was trying to make a trade all summer but could not close a deal. Piston players should not be "wondering," Joe D served notice on ALL of them at close of last season when Pistons lost Eastern Finals again. Trade had nothing to do with start record this season. :bwallace2: Okay, but... I think when you make a trade like this you do it because A. it's a slam dunk for your team OR B. you're writing off the season and you're jockeying for next years FA's by shedding contracts. Well I don't think it's a slam dunk but I can see why the trade makes sense if Dumars wants to position the Pistons for a big name FA signing next summer. Obviously, getting rid of Billups contract is key for that strategy to work. And AI's $20M comes off the books at the end of the season. Which to me says that he's writing off this season which I find curious when they were only two games into it at the time of the trade. Doesn't Kwame's come off the books too? Pistons could have some $$ to play with. I think so :bwallace2:

But Joe D also thinks AI will give a much more slashing/driving scorer from the point guard position. I personally think AI has too much of "me" left in him. However, the clearing the salary cap aspect is right on the money. :bwallace2:

Plus Kwame Brown, ohhhhh woe is me! Say it ain't so, Jim. Man, did our team just go down the shitter or what??

The last thing Detroit needs right now is a guy who invented "me." Yes, Billups seemed to let that huge contract make him a little bit lazy last year but Iverson can do none of tghe things that Billups did. Iverson could not sustain the role that helped the Nuggets early when he was traded there and he won't sustain the discipline needed to play with Detroit. :bwallace2: Man, do I hurt for the Pistons now.

Hi Everyone, I am back and alive!! I don't fake my happiness, I do not and did not take my surgery for granted. Too many cancer patients do not make it. I have been on post op for a week and am totally exhausted. Trying to gets lots of bed rest and medication for a few minor complications that come with this treatment. Hope to be posting regular in a few weeks. I do want to take this time to thank all of you again for your prayers and support. It meant a lot to me and helped me keep a good psychological base of thought during this ordeal. Bruce :bwallace2:

Blue Ray Discs: Any recommendations?
BruceW replied to medjuck's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
No, I don't have any but, reading your experience has practically sealed my fate to go ahead and convert to Blue Ray. I have heard a lot about it, researched it and really appreciate your testimonial. Especially the fact that you were talking about DVD discs as seen through Blue Ray. We also have a ton of DVD's. Don't know what to recommend to you, except if you liked the Searchers, you would probably like any of the old westerns with their scenic expanses etc. Maybe the Last of the Mohicans (new version with Daniel Day Lewis). My research says that any regular DVD will look great on Blue Ray. One caveat, do not try Hi Def DVD. They will not work on Blue Ray. I'll be joining the Blue Ray club right after my big op coming in 13 days. -

Does anyone pay attention to the Olympic Games anymore?
BruceW replied to papsrus's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
From what I've seen, foreign coverage of the Games is no better. One of the advantages of cable is that NBC now covers the Games on many channels. Primetime NBC coverage is usually full of athlete profiles and travelogues, but if you just want the sports there are now several options, MSNBC among them. I believe Universal HD channel is covering the games nearly round-the-clock in HD. Yes, but UHD does not cover a lot of the prime time sports events. MSNBC seems to cover a lot of soccer (great for soccer fans). USA covers a lot of events also. Well of course, you can't see luge and bobsled in the summer olympics, duh!! I'm no doubt in the minority, but the track events are by far and away my most favorite Olympic events. Always have been. Track and field has always been the crux of the Olympics. Won't anybody say it?? Bob Costas and NBC fail to realize the Olympics is not about Bob and his interviews (the most boring part of the telecasts). It is really great that Phelps won that many medals (along with the team) BUT do we have to see his life story every damn night?? AND Bob needs a decent haircut or a new rug. That's because we cannot swim that fast, we run. Incidentally (seriously) there was a study done a few decades ago on how our ankle structure allowed us more sprint speed running rather than swimming. (that could be a whole thread in itself). However, there was a brother who swam a 100 meter freestyle segment in one of the medlay relays won by the Phelps led men's team. My final word is GET BOB COSTAS OFF THE TUBE and show us more events, even the ones that show more of the losers. Weren't they all included in the March of Nations????? AND the Olympics is great. Is good for the soul, and is good for you. It only happens every four years so two weeks of TV watching (even with that damn Bob Costas) is not so bad. -
Ernest Borgnine shares the secret to his long life.....
BruceW replied to BERIGAN's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Yeah, you know what he said, it was pretty clear (especially if you turned up the volume. Ernie said, "I masturbate a lot." It was pretty clear. Cheers Ernie -
Lucky you Dan, Wasn't the catheter a smaller flexible tubing??
-
Yeah you can ask! Seriously, first they give you an anesthetic gel but it still depends on your pain tolerance level as to what you can feel. The doc does not knock you out because it only takes 5 minutes if you are clear. I would imagine if it got complicated, they would further anesthetize you. If you want "exact" details, you can email me or send message.

Congrats Ed, the best to both of you.

ANOTHER UPDATE: AUGUST 15 I last reported on the scans that I had. Both negative, both good news. I then, however, had to have the urologist examine my bladder. This exam turned out to be an additional exam the urologist does as an extra precaution his office does. The exam is called a Cystoscopy. In short, it is like having a sigmoidoscopy through the penis' ureathra. Enough said!! Results: my bladder is clear. What a relief. I DO NOT recommend any of you guys getting in a position that would require you to have this examination. It is no fun!! But I am now clear and scheduled to have the Cryotherapy on Sep 23. It is expected on Sep 24th that I will be cancer free or at least as close to that as possible. There is still no cure for cancer but this would be awfully close and I should be back to a somewhat normal life in a few days after. Having said that, you will probably not hear from me again on this subject until after Sep 23 or 24th. Thanks for all your support. Bruce W

You know, Like when most bad things happen we tend to look at the worse side and also point fingers. I did this wondering how in the world Joe D could do this. After thinking about it, Joe Dumars is considered one of the geniuses, albiet a few mistakes here and there, but nontheless, one of the basketball geniuses. He MUST have something up his sleeve. I just can't see him being hoodwinked regarding Kwame Brown. Joe MUST know something we don't. Consider this (just a thought). Kwame will play because he is big and can clog the middle (little offense really needed from him). Joe D keeps Sheed and puts him back out at forward so he can rome, set picks, pass, and shoot the 3's. (It is true that Sheed never did like playing center). I certainly don't know how much good that would do, but it is a thought. BruceW :bwallace2:

The Pistons have now been cursed. What in the hell was Joe Dumars thinking of?? Sheed in any state-of-mind is better than Kwame.... :bwallace2:

Bruce, Excellent news! The fact that it is localized means they can kill it. Is a "cryotherapy procedure" the one like my Dad had? His treatment involved injecting these small little needles into the wall of the prostate that they irradiated. He was "radioactive" for about 6 weeks but the cancer was gone about 3 months later. That procedure worked great for my Dad. Good luck with the procedure and let us know how it's going. Kevin Kevin, not quite the same. Cryotherapy is a process of "freezing" the cancer, thereby reducing the prostate and killing the cancer. It is then thawed and then frozen again, and then thawed once again. This process effectively "reduces" the cancer situation and most times "kills" the actual cancer. The process takes between 1-2 hours and done. One must remember that it only takes one remote tiny microscopic cancer cell for cancer to arise again (over a long period of time albiet), but the freeze process can be done again thereby, greatly extending the period of one's life. This process takes only one week from the op table to finishing the recuperating and healing period. (some exceptions, but few). I think your dad had what they now call "inside out radiation" treatment. Glad your dad is well. BruceW

THIS IS THE LATEST UPDATE 7/28/08 Hi Everyone, I have had my bone scan and CT scan tests, and the cancer has NOT spread. It is a localized problem and I have agreed to the cryotherapy procedure (very minimally invasive at best). Again, major surgery is out of the question. In two weeks my urologist takes a look at my bladder. Earliest procedure date is in September. Nothing else really needed until then other than insurance company approval. Again, I want to thank all of you for your concern and support you have given me. It has helped me greatly in this life threatening condition. BruceW aka Vibeman27 :bwallace2:

Always liked Camby, even when he was with the Knicks, but he sure has trouble staying healthy. I think he did play most of last season, so perhaps there is hope yet. The plus side - Camby will get you 10+ rebounds a game. The minus side - Camby only averages about 60 games a season, and he's 34 years old. He is going be forced to score some points or else Chris Kaymen (Caymen?) will put Camby on the bench and of no value to the team. Question: anybody think Caymen and Camby will play side by side? :bwallace2:
-
Kevin, That is perfectly OK. Too many men are in danger and don't know it. Not all doctors bother with the PSA because they take a look at you and say "You look fine." Plus everything else may be fine so they don't do the test. You are right, ASK FOR THE PSA TEST TO MAKE SURE. Bruce W

Yeah, Yeah, I am still here though. Piston fan ready to rumble....... You make it sound like it was intentional. It was not, it was an unfortunate accident of Mahorn trying to keep the players separated. Say it like it is man. :bwallace2:

Paul I am so thankful for everyone's support that I do, in fact, have a home vid I would like to share with all of you. "Remember When" a ballad by Lennie Niehaus. My call name is Vibeman27; CLICK on this link This vid is the last one I made before my condition took this complicated turn. Thanks everyone for your support. :bwallace2:

Trane, Best wishes to you and your mom. That was a terrible accident to endure. Hope your mom recovers rapidly. BruceW

Hi All, The latest updates is that I am having my bone scan and CT scan this coming Tuesday, 7/22/08. The results will be sent to my primary physician and my urologist with whom my wife and I will be meeting the following Monday, 7/28/08. While my PSA was a normal rate of 3.7, there was a lump which was defined as Stage B. My Gleason score is 7, which puts me in the intermediate catagory. That catagory also defines which treatments are available. However, a Stage B and Gleason score of 7 has to be confirmed by a bone and CT scan to determine if the cancer has spread or not. That information is what we will be finding out on 7/28/08. If I remain at the present ratings, it is pretty much assured my cancer growth can be halted, slowed down and most likely killed, thereby affecting a cure by choosing one of a few options that will be available to me. Thanks for your interest, concern and support. Bruce W aka Vibeman27 aka Piston fan and also your friend and colleague. :-)
