  1. Thanks for all the advice fellows, My tinnitus only seems to bother me when I (as I said before) play at the very top end of the vibes; not single notes but rather ma 2nds, mi 3rds, ma 3rds and 4ths. For some reason #4ths, 5ths, #5ths, b7ths, ma 7ths and octaves are not bad. Weird I know, but that is what gets me. Volumne is not much of a problem unless it is really blasting right behind me. So I always put drummers off to my right and bass to my left or the bass in between myself and the drums in combo groups. Bruce
  2. The Pistons, IF they make it out of the east (a big if), will be fodder for whatever team comes out of the west. They're a good team, good enough to get a #6 seed out west. Guy right now Guy, you are probably right except for this; if the Pistons (team) finally decides to play like they used to (know how to win) without Phillips messing up, they will be a real force to contend with.
  3. Looks like you are never going to admit that Kobe is a dirty player. Kobe "pays back" players always somewhere near the end of games when he is losing. Exactly what did you expect Genobli and Yarko to say. If they said anything different they would be classified as "crybabys." So they said the right thing and let the league take action. Kobe is mean and still having said that, he is still one of the greatest players in the game, but his head "ain't straight" and never has been. Even when he first came into the league he was prone to "tantrums" and many of them. We know you are a good fan but enough blindness is enough blindness.
  4. Haven't been here in a long time but my 2 cents is: The point really being missed here is that if those same "old guys" players were subjected to the training and conditions of todays game, they would still be the greatest players because of that very fact. They had what it took then and they would have it now. Paul Arazin was a great player then, and if he had to train and learn today's game, he would have been great also. Now, if you just want to say the old guys against the younger new guys, then of course they would not be able to man up; but it doesn't work that way.
  5. Hey, isn't that what they call a tax-free withdrawal?? Good luck to you Jazz Cat.
  6. Jazz Cat I am from the Vibenet. There are some vibists and vibe industry related personnel on there with expert information. If you are really serious, you need to get back on the Vibenet. I had advised you earlier in post#8. You claim you have email problems with them. That simply cannot be. That email address is yours. Contact the administrator, Jerry Grosz, to iron things out. It may take a little while for him to get back to you, but he will. ggrosz@thevibe.net If you don't wish to do that to re establish your contact, then simply contact Bill Youhass at Fallcreek Marimbas: bill@marimbas.com That is his email address. He will send you a brochure with ALL the services they provide for vibes and marimbas. I had my bars tuned there so you can get the EXACT information from him on replacement, costs, tuning, etc. He will need to know the make and model of vibes you are talking about. Again, good luck to you.
  7. Yeah, well, I love the vibes and I refuse to give in on my hands. Soooo, through the wringer I must go... Cannot live without the vibes. However, I made adjustments and am still making adjustments in my playing. I've always basically been a two mallet player (learning some four mallet so I can comp, but that is all, no extravagant four mallet soling and exhibitions). Try not to use the very top end of the vibes unless I am at a point of extreme intensity in the musical piece and it needs to be stressed. Mostly rolls on a single note foar emphasis and expression, prevents the very disturbing ringing I get in my ears (and it is quite satisfactory too). So I do what I got to do... My hands have healed (four trigger finger operations and arthritis) and my vibe bars were retuned this year so I am okay. Need to improve my playing, that's all.
  8. You can expect to pay anywhere from $20 (possibly on sale) to $100 a pair. A comfortable range of prices for good to very good mallets would be about $35 (on sale) to $55 or $65 a pair. Anything over that should probably be playing the music for you. There are a lot of brands and a lot of very good mallets, do the search, the prices are usually listed with pictures. Luck to you
  9. Actually, I did know what you meant. That was my way of saying, why only the one word in your whole statement did you use your breakdown like that.
  10. Actually no one can "say to you which is best". It will be from your perspective anyway. If you have been doing reading and research, make a decision and go with it. Ahh yes, another 42 Panasonic viewer. I have a Panasonic Viera also and it is just beautiful. I am addicted to the HD channels. I'm curious, WHAT is a catode tube?? Did you mean CATHODE RAY TUBE?? No, I can't see Porcy's avatar either! It took me a long time to make a decision also. Funny thing was, the decision I made was the same decision I started out with while I was still confused. So everybody do some research, make a decision and go for it.
  11. Well I know this, I DO HAVE an ear problem. I have been diagnosed with Tinnitus after many hearing tests. Will check that book out. Thanks
  12. You can get a brand new set of Ross vibes for under $3,000 (try Musicians Friend) on the Internet. If you want real vibes, don't go looking for Jenco's. Try Deagans or Mussers, you will have better luck. Both of you might try Steve Weiss in New York. BUT definately join the VibeNet and get some advise from some of the pros who post there. Try sending a test email to yourself. If it comes back to you then something else is mistakenly wrong at the VibeNet. Be sure and click on Return Receipt. You will get an email back stating if the email has been opened at some other destination or yours. If somewhere else, you might want to contact the FCC. Register again. The VibeNet has been hacked quite a few times in the past few years. If necessary, use a new call name and password. Your email cannot possibly be already assigned unless it was assigned to you. If you still have problems with that, get in touch with the administrator so he can clear your previous registrations. Keep trying EBAY. Vibes have a way of recycling there. You'll find something (that is if you insist on not buying new). Good luck to you both. BruceW
  13. I've got it and I'm a vibes player. I've always heard something "extra" when playing block major 2nds, major 3rds and minor 3rds (sometimes perfect 4ths also) on the top end of the vibes. Even my tuner could not hear it and it never goes away. Very disturbing. Try not to play any of those intervals block style in my playing. At other times it is just an annoying ringing in my ears.
  14. Got the Organissimo notification of your most recent post of being back up with your web site. I am still interested in getting a painting of me at my vibes etc. Will take a new batch of pics and will let you know very soon. Where can I send them?? The picture of your friend and his wife is great. Exactly what are the rates for sizes and types of paintings?? brucew487@adelphia.net We got back in our house in October 2005. Problems with contractors every since but that appears to be the normal procedure these days. Bruce p.s. Pistons "giving away" too many key players. Weaker but still a force. Clippers looking good in the west.
  15. I'm sure she does not care as long as all the horney todes buy her CD.
  16. Is there a reason why her legs are on just about every CD she "puts out". Oooops, releases! Does this support the statement "sex sells?" :-)
  17. One of the dangers of overreacting is that you eliminate the useful aspects of the subject. Unless you are a top pro, what makes you think your ears are going to get you through the enormous mass of tunes and their chord and harmonic structures, let alone the tunes themselves??? Something to think about. By the way, I ALSO hate to see bands always using breaks and in-between tunes to look at the book for a tune to play and then come up with the same stuff. Why can't they try a "different" tune that is in the book?? Why can't they get their tune list together before they start the gig??????? Its just the laziness of the players doing this type thing, don't you know. The book itself is an excellent guide for getting things together; not a requirement of stage equipment, I think..
  18. MY Squads NBA - Pistons Lakers again (when Kobe learns to be unselfish leader) Bulls when they start running over people Cavs as LBJ and teams gets better and better MLB - Angels Cardinals - because they are a well greased machine Athletics NFL - Rams - (changed passing game) although can't forgive Frontiere for moving them to St. Louis Dolphins - always like them since their inception, win or lose NCAA - Mich State for green and white USC for red and gold Michigan U for tough hard nosed football NCAA BASKETBALL - UCLA period NHL - Red Wings (even if you do now have to speak Russian)
  19. Thanks for the info, However, the sight would not let me download. Don't know why not.
  20. Hey Gang, This might sound a little stupid but here goes... How can I convert Windows Media Audio files (.wma) to Wave (.wav) and/or MP3 files. Do I need any special software and what?? Have been trying to convert on an XP computer and it has not worked so far.
  21. Wow, it is now a 35 point game. Can Team USA do it or not?? HOWEVER, these are just exhibition games but what do you think of the team?
  22. Hey Guys, On last look, Team USA was ahead by 20 pts. Channel ESPN2 Wade, James and Anthony leading the way, with a great host of others.
