ghost of miles Posted May 2, 2003 Author Report Posted May 2, 2003 Gregore?!? Head for the hills, audio infidels! Quote
J.A.W. Posted May 2, 2003 Report Posted May 2, 2003 Hans, I didn't want to start any SACD fights or anything. They did get kind of old around the ol' BNBB. You can say that again! I'm still wondering why so many people kept taking the same bite over and over again on the old board... Quote
Ed S Posted May 3, 2003 Report Posted May 3, 2003 Gregore?!? Head for the hills, audio infidels! Oh brother, here we go again. What's the saying? Those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it or some such thing. I used to hate how so many threads discussing releases would degrade into format wars rather than discussions of the music. I really hope that we don't go down that path every time there's a thread about a reissue and someone asks if there's going to be an SACD release. Quote
sidewinder Posted May 3, 2003 Report Posted May 3, 2003 (edited) Anyway, screw the SACDs and all that new fangled technology, what about the Mosaic LPs for all us mouldy fygge analogue types? Edited May 3, 2003 by sidewinder Quote

Parkertown Posted May 3, 2003 Report Posted May 3, 2003 (edited) Well, excuse the fuck out of me! Can't I even ask questions now? I wasn't trying to start a format debate. It was a yes or no question, nothing more. No one seems to mind when someone asks about a vinyl release. Hans said: "I'm still wondering why so many people kept taking the same bite over and over again on the old board... " Isn't that exactly what just happened, here? Here's an idea: Let's not talk about the old board anymore. Forget the past. Has Greg really traumatized all of you that badly? Edited May 3, 2003 by Parkertown Quote

Scott, My posts were not directed at you. I tried to express my "concern" that every thread where SACD was mentioned would turn into a format war like it did on the old board - I agree with Ed Swinnich on that point. Your SACD question certainly wasn't turning this thread into a format war, but I'm having doubts about Gregore's post... His name looks familiar, don't you think? Edited May 3, 2003 by J.A.W. Quote
Alfred Posted May 3, 2003 Report Posted May 3, 2003 I don't want to interrupt the SACD debate but I have a question. On the HMV website (link: Blackhawk@HMV) all Blackhawk "versions" are listed. The UK Import is cheaper and the street date is ealier than the US release??? Any ideas?! Are we talking about two different versions????! No!!! Thanks! Quote
pryan Posted May 3, 2003 Report Posted May 3, 2003 No answer for ya, Alfred, but I must say that's a really cool cover, IMHO. :rsmile: Quote

jazzbo Posted May 3, 2003 Report Posted May 3, 2003 I believe that Gregore is someone else who thinks he's cute and funny like Dr. Freud and the Red Guardian or whomever. I haven't seen a Japanese release scheduled yet, isn't the one on the Japanese amazon page the UK release? Quote

HHhhm, yes...and even over at Amazon Japan you'll have to shell out about $55 (includes shipping) for the japanese version. http://www.amazon.co.jp/exec/obidos/ASIN/B...6785917-1189045 These must be in paper sleeves..... maybe double gatefold style sleeves similar to the packaging for the Hampton Hawes "All Night Session" (VICJ-60782/60783)? Ed S Posted May 3, 2003 Report Posted May 3, 2003 Hey Scott, I know Hans already replied to you, but we were not talking about asking the question. Some of us want to know if the set is going to be released in LPs as well. It's just that when someone calling himself Gregore pounces on an SACD question not with an answer but an indictment of other formats a lot of us start to run in the opposite direction. Quote
Out2Lunch Posted May 3, 2003 Report Posted May 3, 2003 (edited) I believe that Gregore is someone else who thinks he's cute and funny like Dr. Freud and the Red Guardian or whomever. Could these three personages be the creation of one sick tormented mind? Edited May 3, 2003 by Out2Lunch Quote
jazzbo Posted May 4, 2003 Report Posted May 4, 2003 No, I think that the Gregore is possibly the concoction of one of those two minds (I think those may be two different persons) and I don't think either of them are sick or tormented. I just don't think they're half as funny as they think they are! Or rather, I don't find their stuff funny. Quote
J.A.W. Posted May 4, 2003 Report Posted May 4, 2003 So they'll be mini-lp versions? What sayeth Tannomeister? Hiroshi Tanno told me he has no idea (yet). Quote

Thanks guys! I was a little irked cuz I hoped you guys didn't think I was trying to start a format debate. I don't really do that. The only reason I asked at all, was as you can tell, I own the JSACDs of these titles. They follow the original albums, though now in unedited performances. But I'm quite interested in having all of these soon to be issued performances, but am TOTALLY sick of buying new remasters only to discover a SACD release 6-9 months down the road. I mean, am I the only one pissed about how Peter Gabriel's reissue program has panned out? Thankfully, I only bought "Security" and "So" last year when the Redbook remasters came out, an not the whole lot! If I'd done that, shit, I probably would return them to Peter myself, demanding explanations!! That's THE ONLY REASON I mentioned the dreaded acronym at all! But really, I appreciate your sentiments a lot. Quote
Out2Lunch Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 Looks like they let you go with just a warning, this time! Quote

J.A.W. Posted May 7, 2003 Report Posted May 7, 2003 So they'll be mini-lp versions? What sayeth Tannomeister? No, according to Hiroshi Tanno the Japanese set will be released in a special box. Quote
