jeffcrom Posted April 14, 2010 Report Posted April 14, 2010 Joe Daley Trio At Newport '63 (RCA mono). The one with Hal Russell on drums. Found a stone mint copy at the record store a block from my house. My first impression is positive, but I'll have to give it a few listens to really get a handle on it. Quote
jeffcrom Posted April 14, 2010 Report Posted April 14, 2010 Dave Tarras/Abe Ellstein - Jewish Melodies (Period). Tarras has become my klezmer clarinet hero, but he's actually not that prominent here; this one is a real ensemble effort. Tarras's son-in-law Sam Musiker, who played clarinet and tenor in the Gene Krupa big band, plays tenor here, and I suspect he did the arrangements. Quote

porcy62 Posted April 14, 2010 Report Posted April 14, 2010 (edited) Wayne Shorter - Adam's Apple - BN, Liberty, stereo. Listening to it after a long time. He was such a great writer, it make me rethink at how much Miles' quintet is due to Shorter's tunes. Edited April 14, 2010 by porcy62 Quote
clifford_thornton Posted April 14, 2010 Report Posted April 14, 2010 I particularly like that one. Living happily with a non-mono edition of it. (Fred Cohen's prices be damned!) Quote
