paul secor Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 Ornette Coleman: Who's Crazy? Pt. 1 (Atmosphere) When I was in college, I saw the film, acted by The Living Theatre, that this sound track was made for. And, iirc, Marianne Faithfull sang "Lonely Woman" as part of the sound track. The music was far better than the film. Quote
jeffcrom Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 Defunkt - Razor's Edge/Strangling Me With Your Love (Hannibal 12" single). A great record, circa 1980, by Joseph Bowie's funk band with some nice playing by brother Lester. Julius Hemphill - Roi Boye & the Gotham Minstrels (Sackville). Disc one. Quote
jeffcrom Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 Lou Donaldson - Possum Head (Cadet stereo). I found this copy a few months ago - it's not in great shape, but a good cleaning put it (barely) into the listenable category. I loves me some Lou and some John Patton, so I'll keep it until I find a better copy. Quote

jeffcrom Posted September 11, 2011 Report Posted September 11, 2011 Dave Brubeck Quartet - Gone With the Wind (Columbia 6 eye stereo) In spite of reservations about Brubeck's musicianship, I find his music very comforting when I'm in certain moods. And it's probably morbid to say this, but I've been thinking a lot lately about his age and health, and how much I'll miss him when he's gone. Quote
