The Butcher shows in Baltimore were the high point of the concert year for me, at least so far (I don't expect to see them superseded). This album just out on No Business and quite fine:

Bill Cole, Sam Rivers, Warren Smith. Cole has been on the scene a long time, but does not seem to me to be often discussed, despite an interesting approach to the music.

Music from Dartmouth LP. 1975 performance.

Bought this album on spec, and it turned out to be way hipper than I expected. Kenyatta, Wolfgang Dauner, Arild Andersen, Fred Braceful (from his Wiki entry, sounds like an interesting figure, but this is the first time I have encountered him on record I think). Recorded 1970. ECM 1008.

Cien Fuegos has done an excellent job on its FMP reissues: excellent sound, quality vinyl, nice packaging, reasonable prices (as these things go). Good to have these hard to find FMPs available again.

I've liked that one since back in the day.

Right now, a recent find: a 10" LP on the Jump label, by the trio of Eddie Miller, Stanley Wrightsman and George Van Eps. I have some of these performances on 78, as well as some 78 sides that aren't included on this album. The liner notes indicate that some of these tracks are different takes from the 78 issues, so I'm looking forward to doing some comparisons to see just what I have. I couldn't find a picture of the LP online, but here's one of the 78s:

That's a good one and Dauner rules. I recommend all that early '70s Dauner stuff.

Bobby Hackett - That Midnight Touch (Project 3) I've got an unaccountable affection for those Bobby Hackett bachelor pad albums. If it helps my serious music cred any, I've also listened to Hindemith, Fela and Miles today....

Hello everyone--first post here. I found this website linked through another forum and have been watching this thread, lots of great info on here. I started making a list of LPs to look out for that have been discussed in this thread....

Here's one of the latest for me:

I also have a vinyl blog and just put it up there with a needledrop of a track:

No cred loss to me--I love bachelor pad/space pop/exotica. This summer I found a bunch of SESAC 7" EPs--I guess they were bumper and background music for radio stations. It was all over the place from easy listening to "College Gridiron Songs". Jazz artists too...and a Bobby Hackett (which is what made me think of it). Here's a quick pic of a few of them:

I've got that Ellington Sesac EP, and the Chico Hamilton one with Eric Dolphy - that one's pretty cool.

Strange that this has never had a CD release. Anyone know why?
