jeffcrom Posted June 24, 2012 Report Posted June 24, 2012 Some fine straight-ahead piano on vinyl today: Kenny Barron - 1 + 1 + 1 (Blackhawk). I enjoy hearing Mr. Barron with just a bassist - he played a duo gig in Atlanta about 15 years ago with Neal Starkey, the city's first-call bassist. I've always liked Michael Moore, whose talent is much greater than the size of his discography. John Hicks - In Concert (Theresa) Quote
jazzbo Posted June 24, 2012 Report Posted June 24, 2012 The Hawkins half. Such a gas! And Ray Nance . .. wow. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted June 25, 2012 Report Posted June 25, 2012 I still have a real one - CL 951 and remember watching the original broadcast at my grandparents house. Quote
jazzbo Posted June 25, 2012 Report Posted June 25, 2012 I don't know anyone playing imaginary ones. I was also listening to a CL951. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted June 25, 2012 Report Posted June 25, 2012 I don't know anyone playing imaginary ones. I was also listening to a CL951. The one pictured is a Columbia Special Products edition manufactured in the mid '80s. I used to sell 'em. Note the altered catalog number and the CSP logo at the bottom. Quote
jazzbo Posted June 25, 2012 Report Posted June 25, 2012 (edited) Yeah, I didn't need that explained to me.* I didn't take the time to post a picture of the exact pressing I was listening to. And I will not take the time again at a future date as well. Right now, another favorite from my late Ohio days. * I thought I had taken the time to craft a sufficiently Nessan snarky remark. JSngry Posted June 25, 2012 Report Posted June 25, 2012 Let those who fret about the Mosaic box fret. I'll get it someday. Don't have any holes to fill in with it, so it'll be a conveninece thing when I do. Until then, I go to the shelves and come back with a winner! Show BUSINESS!!! Quote
