jazzbo Posted December 26, 2012 Report Posted December 26, 2012 Miles Davis 'Live at the Plugged Nickel' (UK CBS 2LPs) Remember at the time this came out what an astonishing find this was ! Indeed! Still sounds great to me. Wish I had the Mosaic LP set. Quote
jeffcrom Posted December 27, 2012 Report Posted December 27, 2012 Benny Carter - The King (Pablo) I like my iPod for traveling, but it's nice to be back home and able to listen to vinyl through nice speakers. Quote
jeffcrom Posted December 27, 2012 Report Posted December 27, 2012 Clarke-Boland Big Band - At Her Majesty's Pleasure (Black Lion). The "musicians in jail" thread reminded me that I hadn't listened to this for awhile. What a fabulous record! Quote

jeffcrom Posted December 27, 2012 Report Posted December 27, 2012 Capt. John Handy - All Aboard, Volume III (GHB). The 1965 "December Band," famed among New Orleans fans. The cover proclaims "stereophonic," but it's not. Quote

The 'Miles & Gil' on vinyl is particularly good too. Fully agree with Sidewinder. Those are the two Miles Mosaic I have. Sound on both is incomparable! Wish I had bought more of those Miles Mosaics... Now listening to: Arnett Cobb 'Sizzlin' (Prestige Japan reissue, stereo) Quote

JSngry Posted December 28, 2012 Report Posted December 28, 2012 A Christmas Gift For You - Philles original found sealed in a dusty old mom-and-pop a looooong time ago. The cover has since gotten water damage, and the pressing was just a tad crackly even new, but dammit, this is how this album should sound. I've also got the Apple mono & that Pavillion/CBS stereo bastard-child (and no digital versions, are you kidding?!?!?!), but, no, this is the real deal right here. Play it loud. Play it VERY loud. I find it impossible to listen to any of Spector's stuff since he ended up in prison. I knew he was what he was even before he went to prison, but that kind of sealed the deal for me. Quote
