mjazzg Posted May 31, 2018 Report Posted May 31, 2018 I'm intrigued by the Ramsey McLean (and also pleased to hear he's still with us). How is it CT? Quote
clifford_thornton Posted May 31, 2018 Report Posted May 31, 2018 It's fun -- features Alvin Fielder on drums and a bit of oddball synthesizer from Lawrence Sieberth. The recording isn't perhaps the greatest, however. The McLean/Dagradi duo album on Prescription is much deeper. Quote
mjazzg Posted May 31, 2018 Report Posted May 31, 2018 Thanks. I'll keep an eye out for them both Quote

mjazzg Posted June 1, 2018 Report Posted June 1, 2018 Chico Hamilton Quintet - With Strings Attached [Warner Bros, France] this is fast becoming one of my favourite Hamiltons, especially now I've replaced a noisy copy with a much nicer one. (still don't like the cover though, sorry TtK ) Quote

Clunky Posted June 1, 2018 Report Posted June 1, 2018 Krzysztofa Komeda——Komedy 1———(Poljazz) pieces from 1965 and 1962, with the former more interesting. It features Stanko , Urbaniak and Zbigniew Namyslowski a.o. Not of the highest level but still pretty interesting. Quote

The Oxley certainly sounds worthy of investigation. Now if they had played the music to The Woodentops it could all have been very different... Just looked up the Oxley. Four drummers apart from him! No wonder it sounds immense Quote
