Giving this another spin:

This LP is more slick & commercial than the other Irakere records I've heard. 

But I really dig it! It's infectious, irresistible music -- even if the "jazz quotient" is lower.

Frank Capp / Nat Pierce - Juggernaut (Concord, 1977)

It's a bit disconcerting (pun intended) how much these guys sound like the Basie band. They may as well have been a "tribute band" -- but Basie & his band were still doing their thing in 1977. Tribute acts usually come after the original no longer exists. Not here though.

Very good! Recorded for German state-owned radio, well known for having great engineers and recording equipment.
