I used to have a Prestige blue label of this album, many years ago. I wasn't that into it and purged it without a second thought. Now, Eastern Sounds is one of the most desirable jazz albums among a certain set of collectors. I haven't listened to it in decades but part of me would not mind having that old copy just to cash in!

Always been a favourite so i guess I must be amongst  that "certain set" although do I detect a hint of disapproval of them? 

I have a slightly noisy copy of this pressing

I’ll have to spin my copies of this. I think the Fontana is a factory sample but will have to check. I’ve also got an early OJC and from my recollection that sounds pretty good too.

Given it a spin - mono, sounds fine, not a sample. Have to say, I prefer the earlier Savoy and Verve material and the later Impulses.

Got the vinyl just before they sell out. It’s noticeably punchier than the CD, so well worth getting hold of. Important issue !

Been too long since Brotzmann has been on the turntable. Cyrille is masterful.

That's one of my favourite JiB releases. I should buy the LP version.

Again, the sound has more presence to my ears, than the CD version. Good though the CD is - happy to have both.  By staggering the LPs from the CDs, Jazz In Britain are onto a good little earner !

The Kenny Clarke-Francy Boland Golden 8 is quite an untypical thing for Blue Note. 

I got it years ago from my wife , a japanese mini LP cover CD. 

Very fine, but as I said completly different from the usual BN stuff, first because it is recorded in Europe (others were Ornette at Golden Circle and Dexter "Our Man in Paris" and a few others) and second, because it´s kind of a "mini big band format" and BN usually was a combo-label...

Yeah, it's interesting that it even came out on Blue Note at all. I love the CBBB and am glad it exists, though.

Must have been the consequence of one of Francis Wolff’s European Summer holidays and a deal which was made. 

Rearward also put out an additional LP of material from those sessions, recorded in Koln I think.
