Grant Green - Slick! Live at Oil Can Harry's [Resonance]

my first dive in. I like the very present sound that puts you in the front seats

This again. The medley on side C is particularly special

Glad you’re liking this. I think perhaps that if the two Resonance GG sets this is the better one. It’s from a less documented part of his career, the sound is uniformly excellent . The French set does lose a mark for the sound on the 2&3rd LPs. It’s best described as dark which fits the music.

Yet to complete the play-through of the full 3LP Grant Green France set. Will put that right this weekend. Like what I’ve heard and its :tup for both sets.

Agree that the Vancouver set fills an important gap - certainly quite different from e.g. the Kudu release.

As I have just olive oiled my ears after a particularly unpleasant ear infection I am in for a sonic upgrade as I check out both GG sets. :D

On to Antibes now (saving LP1 for tomorrow morning) and I hear what you say about the sound - denser and a bit squeezed if that makes sense. I do like the organ/sax set up though

Various - Brasil '65 - Capitol (mono)

"Featuring the Sergio Mendes Trio

The subtle, contemporary guitar of Rosinha de Valenca,

and introducing the sunny, refreshing voice of Wanda de Sah!"

Bud Shank also.

I don't think there is anything "sunny" about Wanda de Sah's voice.  It has an introspective, night-time quality.
