Anita O'Day... disc 9..

Why does she remind me of Glenn Close.... ????  or Kathleen Turner circa 1981's Body Heat... :winky::excited::wub:

man, you've been listening to a lot of this one lately. Anita was awesome---sorry I missed that set. Disc 9!?!---damn, I don't remember it being that large of a set!!!

Chu, disc tres!!!

Did this set win anything? The sound and mastering is absolutely glorious, the notes are amazing and I can't imagine a set fitting the Mosaic rescue and re-evaluate mission any better.

In all of the post-RIP postings I became aware that Freddie's 'Superblue' was put out on CD by Mosaic Contemporary (or whatever it's called) and I just received it yesterday. Listening as we speak. I hope they do some more Freddie.

Ike Quebec and John Hardee--The Complete Blue Note Forties Recordings

Side 1.

I ended up spending the night with this whole set yesterday. What a great one! It seems to be rarely mentioned among people's favorite Mosaics, but it just shot way up on my list. Just good old fashioned fun. John Hardee is just a fine Texas Tenorman, and Ike Quebec gives no surprisese playing with some smokin' rhythm sections with Milt Hinton. Cuscuna and Morgenstern put a hell of a booklet together, too. It ranks up at the top with the Max Harrison booklet for the Albert Ammons/Meade Lux Lewis box and Larry Kart's Tristano/Konitz/Marsh box. I found this set for only $100 on an ebay auction not long ago. If you can find it, grab it!

Great stuff. This material was out on cd in Japan, and in fact one of the lps sounds much better in the Japanese cd version than on the Mosaic.
