What Would Like To Listen to While You Die?

This is a question that every music fan has to have addressed at some point during his or her life.

What music would you like to be listening to when you die (assuming that you're dying at home, in bed, or at least somewhere with a stereo)?

For me, I'd like to go out listening to "A Love Supreme."

How about you?

I like your choice, Alexander. Not sure what I'd pick, but that would definitely be a strong contendah.

Just curious though - since you're atheist, is that some sort of bet-hedging at the last minute? :g

Only if you belong to the Church of John Coltrane.

the super dark, ultra morbid guy in me wants to say Curtis Mayfield's (Don't Worry) If there's a Hell Below, We're All Gonna Go.

But really, what I'd want is enough time to be able to listen to Speak No Evil, The Sorcerer, White Light/White Heat (singing along to Sister Ray would be a helluva way to go out), The Smiths' debut album and the first disc of DKV's Trigonometry.

That I could live with. Or, in the case of this thread, maybe not so much...

I have this Woody Allen-like fear of death. I don't want to discuss what I would want to be listening to for fear of conjuring up the Grim Reaper. Or fear of being held to whatever I choose today. What if I say "Flamenco Sketches" today and then at the actual time decide I want to hear "Cisco Kid, Was a Friend of Mine"? You see the dilemma.

Please note that someone else has hijacked my handle and is posting badly misspelled words in my name. <_<

While I die.....

Assuming a single song and the dying starts when the song starts and ends when the song ends, what I would choose would depend upon the manner of death.

If I'm going out while making love to a super model I think I would choose something like Jimmy Smith's The Sermon which clocks in at 20:10.

If I die by being burned alive I think something like The Theme (Track 8 from Disc 3 of Mile Davis' In Person At The Blackhawk: Complete which clocks in at 9 seconds would be my choice.

:P
