Thanks to a Christmas present in the form of a Barnes & Noble giftcard, I was able to order Larry Kart's book and Dan Morgenstern's book, and I did so after reading this thread. I am anxiously awaiting both books!!!

(And if this isn't blatant post-count stuffing, I don't know what is!)

I played a debutante ball in Oklahoma City Wednesday night w/a generic party band and we split the bill with Jerry Jeff Walker. He got 25K to do an hour with his 3 piece backing band and they didn't have to wear tuxedos either.

I'll take some of that brisket, dammit.

As a result of reading this thread for the first time this week I ordered this book today. When you add this to Larry Kart's book, which I ordered earlier this week and the Joe Harriott, Wayne Shorter, Anthony Braxton, South African Jazz, Rollins and a couple of other books in the pile on my night table, I have an intensive period of jazz reading ahead of me. Of course, I first have to finish the Black Artists Group book.
