neveronfriday Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 I have to admit that I've had quite a bad conscience lately. I keep grabbing the BFT discs regularly although I know that for the time being I simply don't have the time to participate. I have too much work which ties me down so much that I don't have the time to voice any informed opinion. And I don't like posting stuff like "Yeah, it sounds like Teddy Wilson on crack but I'm sure it wasn't." All I can say is that when my time comes, I'll try to repay everyone with a good selection (well, one I like). I know that defeats the purpose of the BFTs, but I'd hate to miss out on the discs that more often than not have turned me onto completely new stuff which I would not have considered otherwise. I'll also try to participate more when things become a bit more quiet, but in the forseeable future, things look bleak. Hell, At the moment I sleep during the afternoons, work from 8 in the evening until next day afternoon and head off to bed again - which I'm about to do now (for 4 hours ... groan). Sorry. Cheers! Noj Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 I'm sorry for a number of my rather embarassingly wrong responses, in every discussion thread. My bad. Quote

Dude, no apologies necessary! I think a lot of us go into this knowing that not everyone that gets a disc is gonna be able to participate. Life happens, y'know? And then there are times you're jusr so buffaloed by the tunes, venturing a guess takes more effort than it's worth. Again, that's cool. If we all knew the answers and all had the same tastes, these BFT's would be pretty damn boring. Y'know, like BFT 21 f'rinstance! Quote
JSngry Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 I apologize for not sending out blindfolds with mine. Sad to say, it's going to happen next time, too. So I guess I'm not really sorry, am I. Damn Lutheran inferiority complex. Not even becoming Methodist can get rid of it. Quote
Bright Moments Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 i'm sorry too. really. really. Quote
catesta Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 All is good, V! Listening to the cd is the easy part, taking the time to put some thought into it and form opinions is the hard part. Life can be overwhelming at times. We can't all be independently wealthy, playboy types like Mr. Couwenberg. Noj, I'm with you, sorry guys. Quote

Yeah, I thought you started this thread. I was all prepared to respond with, "oh Al, don't worry you tried your best, maybe next time it will be more interesting". Quote

No need to bring food or drinks and pleasant company is present as well. Ah, the life of luxury really makes me so lazy, I wonder how I can put myself to typing up some lines to these BFTs every time. Quote

Booking the trip, as we speak. It will do me good to get away for awhile. Frankly I'm tired of guys like deus62 whining about not enough time. Of course I would only tell you this in a PM, and never post it on the board. Put a few on ice for me , will ya? See ya around lunch time. I got prosciutto pie in my pockets for a snack! Quote
catesta Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 Oooops! Hmmmm, how do you delete these posts? Quote
Brad Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 deus said it for me. I've listened to Al's great discs a couple of times. I just haven't had time to really put down my impressions on paper. Quote

catesta Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 Looks like a shirt someone gave me for my birthday, except mine still has the tag on it. Quote
mikeweil Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 C'mon folks, some get the discs, never post their guesses (given they have any ) and never have a bad conscience. We all know sh.... happens, but it's still nice to admit it. Quote
Tom Storer Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 I have yet to do my guesses for BFT 20, but I still plan to! I've decided to only sign up for them if I'm sure I'll be able to get my guesses in on time. I know I'd have trouble finding time for BFT 22, so I didn't sign up. SIGH. Quote
Big Al Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 Heck, I sign up for them regardless if I'm gonna have time to answer! It's like someone said on a previous signup thread ages ago: FREE MUSIC!!! Two of my favorite words! But seriously, I do think it's a good idea to at least acknowledge in a single post to thank the BFT-maker for the disc, but that I either don't have time to come up with answers or nothing on it floats my boat. brownie Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 I still have to post about Big Al's Christmas disc. Listened to it once at Christmas time. But right now, I'm just sick and tired of all this Xmas business. Will be posting impressions on the disc before Easter Quote

marcoliv Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 thanks V for sharing this...i feel guilty too specially being in "the remote location" as Dan likes to say but i'm confident that i will share my ignorance enthousiastically on the ones i haven't posted yet real soon Marcus Quote
mmilovan Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 I feel sorry – last year I’ve got BFT #19, listened every single track, write down (on paper) some thoughts – sketch for my answers. Then I put somewhere in my house the discs as well as papers (help me - my cat eats CDs). And I know, thy will turn up somewhere, some day. Then, it will be such magnificent lag between BFT #19 getting and BFT #19 answering to. And now, I terribly late on BFT #21 – disc one. Here I switched disc one to disc two as part of my initial listening practice. I’m sorry. Quote
