Free For All Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 I made popovers for breakfast. I haven't had those in ages. They're really easy, you just need a special popover pan. I put strawberry-peach preserves on mine. One of these days I might attempt a Yorkshire pudding. Very tasty! Quote

The Magnificent Goldberg Posted November 2, 2008 Report Posted November 2, 2008 My wife made lamb bobotie yesterday evening. She made too much, thank goodness! Wow! MG Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 Let me guess, they didn't stay sealed? No, the dough she used just didn't cut it. I'm not sure what it was, but it was not so good and not from scratch. Tonight we had my sister, her 18-month old daughter, and her husband over for dinner. I made a pork roast with a neat glaze I found online (sugar, vinegar, water, soy sauce, and a little corn starch to thicken... yum!), mashed potatoes, and brussell sprouts with bacon. It was super yummy. For dessert, homemade apple pie made by yours truly. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 Why, oh why, do I insist on eating ice cream? It's killing my gullet right now. Quote

catesta Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 Last night I grilled some salmon and made piselli alla Toscana. Tonight, a home made beef broth with veal meatballs and a side of spaghetti w/sugo alle melanzane. Quote
AndrewHill Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 Last night I grilled some salmon and made piselli alla Toscana. Man, that sounds good! Quote
catesta Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 It was. The salmon came out real tasty. Brushed with olive oil, and wrapped in foil with a little white wine, lemon juice, rosemary, and salt & pepper, topped with lemon slices. Grilled for 10 minutes and it came out perfect. Quote
PHILLYQ Posted November 17, 2008 Report Posted November 17, 2008 Saturday was cooking frenzy day, as I made a pot of tomato sauce, chicken cutlet parmigiana, spaghetti, steak pizziola(sp) and sauteed okra, all in 90 minutes. Yesterday was chicken with potatoes and carrots, an heirloom tomato salad and a cheeseburger for my son. Tonight is chicken with broccolli, peppers, celery and snow peas in the wok with some brown rice. Quote
kinuta Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 'Buri' which I think translates as Yellow tail, teriyaki style, salad of daikon, kaiwari (radish sprouts)and scallops in a thin mayonnaise sauce 'Yudofu' which is just hot tofu with a simple sauce made from onions and other seasonings, rice. For desert pears. Buri teriyaki Quote
Free For All Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 Chicken breasts cooked in the crock pot, mashed red potatoes w/gravy and roasted asparagus. I cooked the chicken with some stock, onion soup mix, seasonings and a splash of balsamic vinegar. I add the liquid to a flour/butter roux and it makes excellent gravy. Quote
Joe G Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 Sometimes simple dishes are the best. Like kale, broccoli, red bell pepper, and a couple of whole garlic cloves steamed and served with brown basmati, garneshed with olive oil, fresh asiago and black pepper. Tasty! Quote
catesta Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 Both of the above sound tasty to me. I grilled a couple of petite filet mignons, some eggplant, and red and green bell peppers. Quote
