But when I want something a bit stretchy, Montreux is one I always go for. Trouble is turning the LP over halfway through a track. I wish they'd reissue this on CD. I've probably spent the most time with Stick-Up, and have only recently warmed to Dialogue, despite the fact that it was the first Hutch LP that I picked up. I ordered Happenings today, and put Montara in my queue. The review of Montara there (from AMG) is ecstatic. Anybody have an opinion of it? Noj Posted April 10, 2008 Report Share Posted April 10, 2008 I like Montara quite a bit, but if I recall it is considered a lightweight in comparison to many of the other Hutch Blue Notes. It has some really cool latin rhythms and melodies, but is perhaps a little less intense on the improvisation side of things and the compositions are less challenging(?). I find it a bit too MOR/easy listening compared to some of the other sessions of the period (which - though all on the 'easy' side do have their harder moments).
