"OJCs" - Are titles being deleted??

I just got an email from Tower.com informing me that Art Farmer - Portrait of Art is unavailable after one month on backorder.

Are OJCs going out of print??

I ordered a Helen Humes OJC when it became AOTW last year and haven't got it so far - but this happened from time to time in the past - with a catalog as large as this it is no wonder some titles are OOP for a while.

Fantasy just released their 2005 catalog (dated January 2005) and the Farmer is still listed.

The catalog is available on CDROM, request on their website.

Curtis Counce's Sonority was on backorder last year for about three months at *every* website; then it became available again.

So let's not panic quite yet, OK?

Of course, we know what will hit eventually.

I've found it's easiest to order them straight from Fantasy.

This could be a normal out of stock situation (hopefully). You'd think an Art Farmer title would not be that quickly deleted.

If you don't have to have something you can hold in your hands, there's always emusic.com. As has been pointed out in other threads, tons of Fantasy stuff on that website for about $.25 per song.

If the Concord people begin deleting OJC titles, I wonder if they would be pulled from emusic as well. Doesn't seem like there would be any connection, but who knows.
