Man with the Golden Arm Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 Unkle Skid sed: "If b3-er got a 0.01% cut of every CD purchased because of this board, he'd be an extremely rich man." Why can't Organissimo do a link through (gotta be a better slang for this) with a couple of sites we all enjoy for spending that dough on discs? Maybe only a simple banner embedded on the opening forum page that allows the O to get a little everytime. I will clik through alankin's Jazzamatazz to hit CDUniverse for example. Not certain of the troubles but seems to be a good way to keep it all floating. Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 Sounds like an idea worth considering. Quote
GregK Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 I would use such a link for every purchase I make that qualifies. Maybe even a link to such places as the Jazz Record Mart in Chicago or something Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 I appreciate the sentiment, but personally I think we get advertising thrown at us enough these days. You can't even take a whiz in a public restroom without staring at some ad. That said, the "donate" button is still functioning! Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 Then again... there is that mint condition 1959 Hammond B3 at my local music store for the bargain basement price of only $5000! It would sound so great on our next Organissimo record. If all of our members contributed just $5, it could be mine! Ha! Quote
GregK Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 like the lady on tv says, sometimes, it's all about the "O" Quote

Perhaps you've got some bargaining room here; I mean, who else would buy it? a church? Quote
connoisseur series500 Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 That said, the "donate" button is still functioning! Yes, it's time for me to make another donation. It's worth it just for the show you guys put on at the Firefly club. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 Oh it's worth it. That's actually not a bad price for an organ that old in that kind of condition. Seriously, it is mint. The keys feel like they've never been played. Not a scratch on the pedals. The rubber on the volume pedal doesn't even have any wear. It's gorgeous. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 I should add it sounds gorgeous as well. I played it for about 30 minutes... had a crowd around me by the time I was done! It sounds beautiful. Quote

Chuck Nessa Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 Connie500 can get the money for you with a couple of keystrokes. We just have to pressure him. B-) Quote

Uncle Skid Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 "Connie500" ***** I was somewhat serious when I first suggested that -- many of my CD purchases over the last year or two have directly been a result of discussions and recommendations on this board. One problem with it is that we all buy from so many different places: Mosaic, CD Universe, Dusty Groove, Early Records, directly from Chuck, CD Baby, and so on. I would definitely "click-though" if we had the option here, unobtrusive advertising like that doesn't bother me at all. If not, I'm glad the "Donate" option is available, as we all know this board costs $$ and time to keep it going. B-) Quote
