jazzbo Posted August 29, 2005 Report Posted August 29, 2005 If there were a fingers-crossed icon, I'd stick in the biggest one I could find! Quote
JSngry Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 Is this big enough? ← Who are you man, freakin' Bud Collier? Quote
Hoppy T. Frog Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 You been watchin' too mucha this: ← I used to love the Game Show Network when they showed those old panel shows. Now it's all dull original programming. Or am I wrong? Quote
tranemonk Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 Wow... if we can pull this off.. this may be a minor miracle.... Hmm..... CD Universe pre-order price now showing as $77+. My preorder still shows the "cheap" price. Let's keep our fingers crossed!! My recollection is that they've come through on price issues like this in the past. ← Mine, too. They're showing the "regular price" now as $97.89. I think we got ourselves a DEAL! ← Quote
GregK Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 I got in just in time. Placed my order a couple days ago. Can they still honor a price that is almost a third of what it should be? Quote
Guy Berger Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 I got in just in time. Placed my order a couple days ago. Can they still honor a price that is almost a third of what it should be? ← They might not. A few years ago an online vendor (CDNow?) accidentally mispriced the Plugged Nickel at something like 11.98 instead of 111.98. A bunch of people ordered at the bargain basement price. CDNow cancelled the orders, apologized and gave said customers $10 coupons. Guy Quote
Claude Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 $100 is definitely too much for this set. $60 would be ok, $40 is a great deal (I'm in too ) Quote
sidewinder Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 If anyone's still looking for a deal on this, Red Trumpet has a pre-order price of $42.99. ← Thanks - that's a great offer. Quote
take5 Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 Damn... just clicked on that link and it lists it at $77. Quote
sidewinder Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 Strange - it worked at the $42.99 price earlier today. Curse of the Sidewinder? Quote
Guest Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 Damn... just clicked on that link and it lists it at $77. ← Hey all.... Just received this link from a customer and verified Sony's price change. Please note that all have placed their orders will receive the $42.99 price...i.e., we will not renege on it although it is much less than cost - not my philosophy. Anyway, we can no longer offer that price, however for the board members here only we can offer a discount to $69.99 (and you can choose the free UPS in the 48 lower). If you decide to take us up on it, please put "Organissimo Special" in the comments section of the order and we will change when the order is processed (it will not show up when the order is placed). THANKS Rick Red Trumpet Quote
Guest Chaney Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 Rick: Just wondering... Can you explain why your shop -- like CD Universe -- initially set the cost of the set too low? Quote
Guest Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 Rick: Just wondering... Can you explain why your shop -- like CD Universe -- initially set the cost of the set too low? ← Sony had it at $54.98 list when they first announced it... Quote
bertrand Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 (edited) Rick, First off, a big thumbs up for coming here an placing an explanation. That is what I call customer service. Plus, you are to be commended for your decision to honor the lower price - this is a very good decision. Based on this, I will make an effort to try to order some items from you in the future. I admit I have never done so, although I almost took the plunge with the last Wayne Shorter record. You had the Japanese version with the extra track much cheaper than anyone else. In the end, I decided not to get it so as not to cave in to Verve's ridiculous policy of leaving out tunes on the U.S. editions. Which is a good transition to my next point... I find it flabbergasting that Sony changed the list price. Also, if you look at other threads, there were heated discussions about their ridiculous policy of making the last batch of CDs copy-protected. These do not load into iTunes on a PC, making them useless to me. Million-dollar question: did you get any indication from Sony as to whether the Cellar Door set will be copy-protected? This is a main sticking point in my decision as to whether to order it or not. Thanks, Bertrand. Edited August 31, 2005 by bertrand Quote

RDK Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 Big props to Rick at RT. But though I'm not about to cancel my CDU order, I have to say that I wouldn't blame any retailer for canceling an order based on a price increase instituted by Sony. Hardly seems fair to them. Quote

Hardly seems fair to them. ← I agree not to cancel an order with CDU.... Price? Things are a bit "different" since the BMG merge.... I look at things long-term....reneging on a deal does not bode well for a long-term relationship with our customers...even if they are paying less than me personally (~: CCCD.... No mention but.. I have been seeing a lot more product coming out with it both here and Japan...I'll stay away from my personal comments but it sorta sounds like the old "recordable cassette tapes will ruin the industry" argument of the 1970's. THANKS Rick Quote
Guest Chaney Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 Thanks Rick! Your candor is appreciated. Quote
JSngry Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 I wonder if Sony "accidentally" set the price low in order to spur preorder numbers? Quote
