tranemonk Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 You may be able to find someone saying that on the Zapruder film.... I wonder if Sony "accidentally" set the price low in order to spur preorder numbers? ← Quote
bertrand Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 No conspiracy, I'm sure. Just someone low on the totem pole at Sony who fucked up and was caught. Bertrand. Quote
GregK Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 I'm not cancelling my CD universe order, but because Red Trumpet Rick displayed such excellent customer service, I'm definitely going to order something from him soon. Classy thing to do, Rick! Quote

Classy thing to do, Rick! ← Rick's a "cool" guy. FWIW, I've ordered a fair amount from RT in the past with excellent service. I'm afraid I too will stick with my CDU preorder, but I'll certainly continue to order when appropriate from RT. Quote
jazzbo Posted September 1, 2005 Report Posted September 1, 2005 Rick is a top notch business person, and I've had nothing but satisfaction from purchases at Red Trumpet. Here's hoping that Red Trumpet has years and years of success. Quote
sidewinder Posted September 1, 2005 Report Posted September 1, 2005 Yes, I can vouch for the excellent service at Red Trumpet and Rick is always a pleasure to deal with. One of my favourite US music suppliers. Quote
JSngry Posted September 1, 2005 Report Posted September 1, 2005 More plaudits for Red Trumpet. Great, prompt service, no b.s. if you have any questions, and without a doubt the most amazing packing I've ever seen. Quote
Guest Posted September 1, 2005 Report Posted September 1, 2005 More plaudits for Red Trumpet. Great, prompt service, no b.s. if you have any questions, and without a doubt the most amazing packing I've ever seen. ← Hey all.. Just a quick note that I GREATLY appreciate all the positive responses... but I have to be honest... I just received the below from a customer that just blew me away: >>Hello, this was an order for the SWEET Japanese Mini Album CD’s that have been postponed. I would like to CANCEL the order as I am planning on donating the money to Hurricane relief. I will reorder once these finally come in. <<< Humbling experiences with folks like this and you is the main reason why I love what I do... pure class!!! Thanks! Rick Quote
nmorin Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 On the Amazon.com website, the recent Sony releases that are copy-proteched are noted as such. For example Silver's Blue is listed as "Content/Copy-Protected CD, Enhanced" The Cellar Door box set is not listed as "Content/Copy-Protected CD, Enhanced". I hope this holds up... Quote
Claude Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 (edited) Good Although the SonyBMG copyprotection doesn't seem to be nearly as problematic as the EMI Europe protection. Edited September 19, 2005 by Claude Quote
jazzbo Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 Also. . .it's still early to tell. . . . When released, amazon.com may change their text! Quote
Free For All Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 Potential bad news fellas. The info for this at CDUniverse now says "release date not determined". I'm pissed. WTF? Quote
Free For All Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 I hope I don't have to cancel my order because I was able to get the low "mistake" price. I have it on the same order ("ship together") as the new Monk/Trane, so this will probably be hung up as well. Shit! Anyone know what's going on? I checked other sites and saw the 9/27 ship date was still there. It's been reviewed a lot already, so copies have apparently been circulating. Quote
Claude Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 Potential bad news fellas. The info for this at CDUniverse now says "release date not determined". I'm pissed. WTF? ← Same here. The latest order status email from CD Universe (9/21) still said "future release 9/27"), but on my online order status it is "not determined". Quote
Alfred Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 It has nothing to do with the "mistake price". On my online order the status is also "not determined" and I ordered the box for $77. So, never chancel your order. You can change the shipping address instead! Quote
Rosco Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 Well, there's finally a UK release date for this and it's not until the end of October! Don't these boxes get released same day worldwide? Even with the late October date I'm not holding my breath that it will actually come out then. These things always seem to get put back. Quote
Claude Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 Now the CDU website says "Release Date Not Determined" http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=6938847 Some other sites say October 25 is the release date. So it could be that the set has been delayed again ... Quote
GregK Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 why are these things delayed?? hasnt it already been made? they have the picture of it up, people have received their review copies-what's the problem?? why can't they stick to a release date? Quote

I am hoping they ship the Trane/Monk anyway ... otherwise I may end up with two copies. Quote
Michael Fitzgerald Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 Email just in from CDUniverse says set has been "postponed indefinitely". Ugh. Mike Quote
Claude Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 I received this email from CD Universe today: Dear Claude, We regret to inform you that the street date for The Cellar Door Sessions 1970 by Davis, Miles has been postponed indefinitely. When we receive new information about this item we will update our website right away. Please be aware that release dates may occasionally change and are beyond our control. Your order will ship as soon as the product becomes available from our suppliers. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. The Cellar Door releaase date drama goes on ... Quote
