Allegedly Duke fired Nance due to unreliability. Gonsalves remained! Thanks. I should have known that was Nance, but it was stuck in my mind that he had left the band by '65. I believe that another reason Nance was let go was because he couldn't get along with Cootie Williams who had rejoined the band in the early '60's. I remember reading or hearing about a major blow-up the two of them had on stage on one of the Asian or Middle Eastern tours. One of them had to go and it wound up being Nance.
