Dan Gould Posted July 6, 2006 Report Posted July 6, 2006 I haven't offered suggestions but I've followed this thread, keeping my fingers crossed. I know very well how attached we become to our children, er, animal companions. Quote
7/4 Posted July 6, 2006 Report Posted July 6, 2006 Great news! Same here. I've never had a missing cat, but I have lost cats and I miss them. Quote
White Lightning Posted July 6, 2006 Report Posted July 6, 2006 Fantastic news, David! As a proud cats owner, I could really understand what you and your wife were going through. Give her some prime cat food! Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted July 6, 2006 Report Posted July 6, 2006 Great that the kitty has been found!!! Something I didn't dare share before is my luck in having two cats (both females) that have absolutely NO interest in going outside. They'll stand right by the door, and look out the glass storm-door -- but as soon as you open the door to come in or out, they step right back, and have NO interest in going out, none at all. My wife and I got them from the Humane Society, and both had been strays just prior to being brought in to the shelter. But clearly both of them had probably been housecats before that (one had even already been "fixed"). Our theory is that because both of them have had to fend for themselves out in "the wild" (and maybe in the dead of winter), they must realize they've got a pretty darn good deal living with us (with endless food and attention). ghost of miles Posted July 6, 2006 Author Report Posted July 6, 2006 It's an incredible relief today to hear her meowing and walking happily around the house, like she always does--though right now she's sleeping her big adventure off in our barrel-style scratching post. I'm going into work in the evening after my wife gets home, so that one of us is with Lilly all day... she really is like the new baby in the cat family. Later on I'm going to walk around and take down the flyers; it's really remarkable how many people in the neighborhood seemed concerned and promised to keep an eye out for her. Late last night, after we found her, I just stretched out on the couch and listened to that four-minute take of "In a Silent Way" from the box set, then KIND OF BLUE, and it was as if that by-now-very-familiar music was tingling and sparkling anew all the way through me. What joy! I'll try to post our cellphone photo of her later on (current attachment that I tried is over my file space limit). Quote
