J.A.W. Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 (edited) The CDs listed are reissues, so these lists should be posted in the "Reissues" Forum in my opinion. Edited October 28, 2006 by J.A.W. Quote
Son-of-a-Weizen Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 POCJ 2745 Peterson,Oscar(p)/Duke Ellington Songbook* 1835 Is this the '52 material or the '59 stuff? The domestic cd combines the two, right? Quote
Late Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 MYCJ 30503 Monterose,J.R. (ts)/T.T.T. 2200 What album is this? Unless I skipped over it, I didn't see it here. Quote
Swinging Swede Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 POCJ 2745 Peterson,Oscar(p)/Duke Ellington Songbook* 1835 Is this the '52 material or the '59 stuff? It should be the '59 stuff. The Verve album was called Oscar Peterson Plays the Duke Ellington Song Book, whereas the earlier Clef album was called just Oscar Peterson Plays Duke Ellington. The domestic cd combines the two, right? Yes. Actually, what caught my attention is the use of the POCJ prefix. That one has not been used since the Polygram days. Someone mentioned that TOCJs from the 90s have been repressed recently, and now the same thing seems to be happening to the POCJs from the 90s. Interesting. Some of these I have picked up for quite a bit more on eBay... Nice to see them reappear anyway. Quote
J.A.W. Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 (edited) (...) Someone mentioned that TOCJs from the 90s have been repressed recently, and now the same thing seems to be happening to the POCJs from the 90s. (...) Most of the "Blue Note Works" TOCJs (TOCJ-15XX, TOCJ-16XX, TOCJ-4XXX) are OOP; they haven't been repressed recently. Edited October 28, 2006 by J.A.W. Quote
Swinging Swede Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 I was thinking about this post: "It looks like most of the BN Works TOCJ series is being reissued. Good news." I checked HMV and they have TOCJs I thought had been gone for a long time. But perhaps they just found some hidden stock? Or have those titles been available from HMV all along, despite going for much more on eBay? Quote

On the back of one (TOCJ1610) it gives a release date of 23 Oct 1996 and a deletion date of 22 Oct 1998. On the back of TOCJ1612 these dates are 27 November 1996 and 26 November 1998. I concluded they weren't reissues. MG Quote

You can find the release date on the HMV pages when you scroll down: "This version issued"; the TOCJs I found on their site were released in the 1990s. Quote

When I first spied the list I immediately locked onto all those Getz titles that have been acquired through eBay and thought RATS!!! Say, are you the guy thats been bidding against me on all those onedrop777 and takarayama auctions? Looking forward to getting the last two Stans ('West Coast Jazz' & "Jazz Giants '58) that I've been after. It should be the '59 stuff. The Verve album was called Oscar Peterson Plays the Duke Ellington Song Book, whereas the earlier Clef album was called just Oscar Peterson Plays Duke Ellington. Good, thanks......it's that '59 material I'd like. Quote

Unless I skipped over it, I didn't see it here. just a guess: what about live at the tender trap from that discography No, it's a Storyville release, listed in the discography as "Date: July 2, 1988 Location: Jazzhus Slukefter, Copenhagen, Denmark Label: Storyville J. R. Monterose (ldr), J. R. Monterose (ts), Hod O'Brien (p), Guffy Pallesen (b), Jesper Elen (d)" The album misspells J.R.'s surname as "Montrose", which may have caused problems with databases. Amazon.com also has a page: "Montrose" T.T.T. Edited November 4, 2006 by T.D. Quote
