BERIGAN Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 So tough when it comes to women and children.... http://www.tmz.com/2007/04/19/alec-baldwin...age-to-daughter Quote
Larry Kart Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 Gee -- what a surprise. Did you think before this that Mr. Baldwin was such a nice guy, like the rest of his dysfunctional siblings? I mean there has to be reason he's so often cast as an an intemperate ---hole, even though I think he has some gifts as an actor. You surely don't mean that his vile personal behavior is supposed to, in and of itself, invalidate the political positions he has taken? Or do you? Quote
rostasi Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 So what? Maybe she was a thoughtless little pig. Seems judgment is being passed on something we know nothing about. OH, that's right. He's a liberal - gotcha! R~~ Quote

He has long shown a violent side towards women. Edited April 20, 2007 by BERIGAN Quote
Soul Stream Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 So what? Maybe she was a thoughtless little pig. Seems judgment is being passed on something we know nothing about. OH, that's right. He's a liberal - gotcha! R~~ Yeah, that's kind of what I thought. Who knows what the back story on this is. Maybe he's made a deal with the child to talk at certain times of the day, and he's dropping everything he's doing to make the call and she refuses to pick up the phone because she's mad at him or whatever. I've seen some 12 year olds that are pretty damn manipulative. Perhaps the straw had broken his back so to speak. Of course I know nothing of it, but it seems like when a voicemail like this hits the media on a high profile divorce case...there may be more to the story. Quote
BERIGAN Posted April 20, 2007 Author Report Posted April 20, 2007 And if someone like Bruce Willis was caught berating his daughters like this, I'd call him a worthless piece of shit as well, politics doesn't matter here. Part of what Alec said...."Once again I've made an ass out of myself trying to get to a phone at a specific time," Baldwin says in the message. "I'm tired of playing this game with you. You have insulted me for the last time. "You don't have the brains or the decency as a human being -- I don't give a damn that you are 12 or 11 or a child or that your mother is a thoughtless pain in the ass who doesn't care what you do." Yeah, Rotasi, you are right.....she was a thoughtless little pig, that bitch needs to be put in her place! She can start early (even for someone in Hollywood) with the therapists. Quote
rostasi Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 (edited) I think you're overreacting BIG time. Kids can be real shits sometimes and we have no idea what the story is. Typical media overreaction to a famous person who's supposed to have a neat little societal place assigned to him in life. A father yelling at his daughter results in future therapy? Man, you gotta quit watching TV. Edited April 20, 2007 by rostasi Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 As I understand, Baldwin had a "standing appointment" to call his daughter and this was (at least) the second time in a row she "stiffed" him. Not excusing his behavior, just adding some context. Quote
BERIGAN Posted April 20, 2007 Author Report Posted April 20, 2007 imagine being an 11 or 12 year old(Her Dad doesn't seem to know her age) and having pops talk to you like this.... http://www.aolcdn.com/tmz_audio/0419_baldwin.mp3 Quote
rostasi Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 Yes, I heard it twice already at the site. Arguments like this happen all over the world. So he's pissed! Maybe he's got a reason? Man, when my dad talked to me that way, I KNEW I'd better straighten out my act! Maybe I should've had the media and Child Protective Services rushing to my side! Quote

Typical media overreaction to a famous person who's supposed to have a neat little societal place assigned to him in life. A father yelling at his daughter results in future therapy? Man, you gotta quit watching TV. ??? Do you have kids? I am divorced and have an 11 year and I cannot for a second imagine saying anything so vile to him. I am hardly a saint and am not trying to get holier than thou, but that voicemail was f'd up, plain and simple. Really f'd up. Quote
rostasi Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 So I have to be a girl and have kids? The fact that she's a daughter somehow makes this more of a serious issue? Wow, a strangely invidious, sexist attitude methinks. Again, (I know you're reading right over this): He was pissed at his daughter. He yelled at her. That's it. We know nothing more about what she did. Frankly, it's none of our business. If, in this instance, she was a manipulative little 12 year old, then she probably needed more than the coddling I see parents usually give. I guess he's not in a position to ground her. Maybe he's tried diplomacy? Hell, we know NOTHING about this. ...and we can thank the "Sun"/"Enquirer"- like tactics to bring it to our unfortunate attention. R~~ Quote
paul secor Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 Sounds like a domestic dispute to me - and none of my business. Quote

Chuck Nessa Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 Berigan, please tell me about your children and your relationships. Quote
B. Clugston Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 Sad what's passing for news these days. If anyone has a hate on for Baldwin, I suggest they rent Team America. Quote
Dan Gould Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 Baldwin's behavior is pathetic. She's 11 years old, and this is how you talk to your own daughter? That's sickening. He has an appointed time to call her? What if she doesn't want to talk to him? I don't give a shit what she does, no 11 year old deserves to be yelled at in a voice mail like that. He's such a big, busy, important man, so he's pissed off? He's pathetic. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 And your relationships with your children are................. Quote

connoisseur series500 Posted April 21, 2007 Report Posted April 21, 2007 I found it very painful to listen to the voice mail. Very painful. I cringed. (Boy, he's hardly articulate, is he?) I also say we need to hear the full story before resting on a final judgement. At the same time, I sure hope I've never yelled like that to my kid. I just call him "moron!" (He is one sometimes....) Wait till he gets older and calls me a moron. (I am one sometimes....) Quote
RDK Posted April 21, 2007 Report Posted April 21, 2007 This was "evidence" leaked from a highly contentious divorce case (that's been going on for years). I doubt Baldwin will get Father of the Year honors for this, but there's a lot to this than just "dad beating up on daughter over the phone." Quote
Uncle Skid Posted April 21, 2007 Report Posted April 21, 2007 I also found it painful to think that he was talking to an 11 year-old like that, but fail to see how this is "newsworthy". It's a private, family issue, and should be dealt with accordingly. I honestly don't want to hear "the full story", just like I don't give two shits about who's the father of Anna Nicole's baby, or countless other distractions that the media deems important. Quote
