Bodo Jacoby founded Promising Music as a label to reissue MPS albums on CD. The website of Promising Music finally has gone live. http://www.promising-music.com/ The first batch has been announced and can be ordered online. analogak Posted January 30, 2008 Report Share Posted January 30, 2008 headman, in case you were not aware, there have also been some MPS albums reissued via japan recently. i am listening to mike nock's "between or beyond" as we speak. i had also ordered george duke's "feel". thank g_d someone else is taking charge because MPS certainly spit the bit. i hope we get some more dauner albums. get up and dauner! analogak Posted January 30, 2008 Report Share Posted January 30, 2008 yeah pretty awesome! i wish all the dauner MPS albums would be reissued. hopefully more will come out. some of them have marketable names like larry coryell on them. though ironically i do not like the oimels, which is actually pretty readily available. i find dave pike's MPS stuff a bit cutesy. Which part is owned by who else? Sorry, I don't know the details of the MPS catalogue sale. The only thing I know from talking to Bodo Jacoby is that UMG bought a part of the catalogue only. No idea what share and which items of the total catalogue has been purchased by UMG. Btw, I'll be offline for a week or so. We didn't meet in person, but he contacted me to get the permission to use one of my pictures of Charlie Mariano with Sangam for the booklet to Helen 12 Trees. We are in contact via email and phone. PS The wish list should give a pretty good overwiew of the (430 listed) items available in the UMG catalogue. If I remember it correctly (from the tv feature "MPS. Jazzin' the Black Forest" which is available on DVD) the complete MPS catalogue counts a bit more than 700 albums.
