Sam Jones - Something in Common Yeah, a bit extreme. As it happens, I have this as well, and would be happy to part with it for $50 or so (shipping extra). Quote

Dan Gould Posted November 17, 2008 Report Posted November 17, 2008 Hey, this guy deserves credit for underselling the first guy, who wants $555.55 - and he's underselling him by a lot, more than the cost of a Mosaic Select, with shipping! Quote
Jazzmoose Posted November 17, 2008 Report Posted November 17, 2008 If 32Jazz CDs aren't rare, they should be with those covers... Quote
Ken Dryden Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 A fool and his money soon part...it is hard to imagine any of the 32Jazz CDs selling for more than original list price. Quote
BFrank Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 Pretty insane............but I have it, so maybe I'm RICH! I also have the Muse vinyl. Quote
AndrewHill Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 A fool and his money soon part...it is hard to imagine any of the 32Jazz CDs selling for more than original list price. I've seen the Altschul and the Kirks go for triple the list price. Quote
Guest Bill Barton Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 (edited) Sheesh... Well, yeah, the cover art sucks and the "liner notes" blow, but you have to admit that some of the music most certainly doesn't suck or blow. Whether it's worth two or three times list price is another matter. Maybe the Rahsaans... No, definitely the Rahsaans! But, even if I had it, I sure as shootin' wouldn't fork over five-hundred smackers for them either. Edited November 18, 2008 by Bill Barton Quote

captainwrong Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 Amazon Marketplace Out of Print = $$$. I often wonder if anyone actually buys this grossly overpriced stuff. Quote

captainwrong Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 I guess with this scam at least you get a CD. Ironically, I stumbled across some ten year old JazzTimes cleaning yesterday and there was a big ad for 32 Jazz "Now at Best Buy!!! $6.99!!!" Quote
ejp626 Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 Ironically, I stumbled across some ten year old JazzTimes cleaning yesterday and there was a big ad for 32 Jazz "Now at Best Buy!!! $6.99!!!" Sure, ten years ago it was $6.99. And indeed I picked up a used copy 3 years or so at $6.99. But the letters OOP do induce a fever trance in some people. And relatively few people bought 32 Jazz issues so when they went OOP they really were scarce. I've seen some crazy prices on the OJCs that were dropped by the new owners, though here at least nearly everything in the OJC series is still on emusic. And the fact that everything was kept in print for so long tends to keep the prices down. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 Sheesh... Well, yeah, the cover art sucks and the "liner notes" blow, but you have to admit that some of the music most certainly doesn't suck or blow. No disagreement there! I certainly bought a few; I just tend not to look at the cover while listening... Quote
