sonnymax Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 Actress Lynn Redgrave has died at age 67 By MICHAEL KUCHWARA and HILLEL ITALIE (AP) NEW YORK — Lynn Redgrave, an introspective and independent player in her family's acting dynasty who became a 1960s sensation as the unconventional title character of "Georgy Girl" and later dramatized her troubled past in such one-woman stage performances as "Shakespeare for My Father" and "Nightingale," has died. She was 67. Her publicist Rick Miramontez, speaking on behalf of her children, said Redgrave died peacefully Sunday night at her home in Kent, Conn. Children Ben, Pema and Annabel were with her, as were close friends. "Our beloved mother Lynn Rachel passed away peacefully after a seven year journey with breast cancer," Redgrave's children said in a statement Monday. "She lived, loved and worked harder than ever before. The endless memories she created as a mother, grandmother, writer, actor and friend will sustain us for the rest of our lives. Our entire family asks for privacy through this difficult time." AP story Quote
BERIGAN Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 Wow! I hadn't heard she wasn't doing well...I do remember her having breast Cancer years ago. I was going to mention a show/series she was in that ran years ago on PBS,(might have been a British production) that I thought was quite good. But after checking IMDB, I can't begin to figure out what it was! Rest in Peace. Quote
GA Russell Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 I remember the rave reviews she got for Georgie Girl ca. 1966. It never appealled to me at the time, but I saw it ten years later and really enjoyed it. RIP. Quote
Stereojack Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 She was a marvelous actress - somewhat overshadowed by her older sister Vanessa, but very talented in her own right. Quote
paul secor Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 Several deaths in that family over the past year. Vanessa Redgrave's daughter, Natasha Richardson died tragically in 2009. Corin Redgrave, brother of Vanessa and Lynn Redgrave died recently. Quote

bertrand Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 And to the politics forum we go - amazed it took this long. Even Beri knows when to behave. We're talking about someone who died. Bertrand. Quote
Big Wheel Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 Actress Lynn Redgrave has died at age 67 She'd better hope God isn't a Jew. That was her sister, you assclown. Quote

Isn't that supposed to be Lillian Hellman? Lynn may have had some controversial statements as well, but I stand by my post. Bertrand. Quote
AllenLowe Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 I only knew her briefly, about 30 years ago, but she was a nice and unpretentious lady. And a-political. Quote
Big Al Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 I knew she was a fantastic actress, but my fondest memory is when she did "House Calls" with Wayne Rogers. RIP Quote

bertrand Posted May 6, 2010 Report Posted May 6, 2010 1) I was not the one that called Goodspeak an 'assclown'. 2) I was mistaken. Lynn did not share Vanessa's politics and they had a fallout that lasted years. They did reconcile. Bertrand. Quote

bertrand Posted May 7, 2010 Report Posted May 7, 2010 (edited) Valerie, Don't worry, I knew that - I was just surprised that I would have been called uncivil by GS considering I wasn't even the one who called him a name, no matter how justified it might have been. >Bertrand, i trust you realize that i was addressing Goodspeak and NOT you! Goodspeak, If the thread had been about Vanessa Redgrave's passing, you would not have retracted your vile statement. Hence, your apology has no meaning. Bertrand. Please note that my response was to the posters you quoted in your remarks. Valerie, OTOH, has issues that would take hours to explain. I have no beef with you. Too young. RIP Indeed. Much too young.
