Amazon UK has the second "Complete Columbia Albums" set of Duke Ellington releases '59 to '61 for about 52 bucks shipped, ten discs. No other information on this other than it is released in six days.

Deep Discount is listing this set for $50.64.  Still says  9/18 as the release date, which doesn't appear to be correct.

Thanks for the link. I don't know why they say they are the only place in America you can preorder these when you can clearly preorder them on amazon.com, cduniverse.com, bestbuy.com and probably elsewhere.

Just all the material released on the previously issued double CDs:

Monk In Tokyo

Newport 63 & 65

Big Band & Quartet in Concert

Live at the It Club

Live at the Jazz Workshop

Now where is the 1965 Brandeis Concert, one track of which was on the long oblivious Misterioso LP? Where is the live track from Mexico with Bubeck? Will we ever see a proper reissue of these? Probably not. That's why I don't like these boxes.

I have all of this music, and so much of the Ellingtons that I am not willing to buy this box just for two albums missing in my collection. No way.

Can King U (or anyone) clarify which album and tracks are the problem in the Simone box?

Thanks,

from the Hoffman Forum, see below.  BTW, i didn't miss the bonus tracks, which were pretty blah, so never worried about it.

One customer review / comment mentions that Sony seems to have fixed the problem with the (2) missing tracks on "Sings the Blues" included in "The Complete RCA Albums Collection".

Like you I suspect we won't see proper reissues of these, and wouldn't wether this box came out or not.

I can understand your unwillingness to buy these but I like the consolidation that occurs with these boxes as well as the sonic improvements of portions of the material.

I received the Ellington, Blakey and Monk boxes from amazon.co.uk (actually shipped from amazon.de) this week.

The older masterings are used on those discs that were released in the 'nineties but they sound somewhat improved to my ears. Nice box sets.
