clifford_thornton Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 Of course, remember that BN catalog numbers weren't always issued in order. Quote
.:.impossible Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 Keep 'em coming! Clifford, et al, do you know if these were originally issued in order? Quote
AndrewHill Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 Ok, guess I'm the only one playing for now Here's a good later batch: 84302-Introducing Kenny Cox 84303-Andrew Hill-Grass Roots 84304-Heaven on Earth-Larry Young 84305-The Ultimate Elvin Jones 84306-Understanding-John Patton (my favorite Patton date) 84307-Time for Tyner-McCoy Tyner And for those in the know: does anyone know what "unreleased" Ornette Coleman date was given the catalog # 84375? Chuck? Clifford? Quote
jostber Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 Anyone knows how large percentage of the Blue Note sessions that were recorded by Rudy Van Gelder in Englewood Cliffs? He must have been quite a busy man. Should he write a book? Quote
clifford_thornton Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 And for those in the know: does anyone know what "unreleased" Ornette Coleman date was given the catalog # 84375? Chuck? Clifford? No clue. Good point about the intent. Fred Cohen's book gives release dates up into the 4200s. Quote
Shawn Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 To anyone with a discography, what albums are on either side of "Wahoo" (Duke Pearson). (few each direction, just curious). Quote

Ted O'Reilly Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 The topic heading is wrong. What this is, is simply a list. "Lineage" means lineal descent from an ancestor, in the sense of ancestry or pedigree. I thought this would be a description of the sequential/progressive (regressive?) ownership of the label. Quote
Man with the Golden Arm Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 who cares? ownership lineage is pretty pat. chewy has sites on a lineage of these releases as "born" one after the other so to speak. (i presume) it might be easier to call/cull out the bastard child thrown in between the prodigies. then all can argue about how one was really cute despite the big nose and chubby thighs or that the other should have been left at the convent doorstep.
