Is that correct that Fuschia Swing Song is coming out as an RVG as well?

I always said it should have been an RVG, instead of a Conn. Maybe they're finally listening to me!! :P

I couldn't get your point. What's the difference for "Fuschia Swing Song" to be released as RVG or Conn.? Thanks! :)

That new release line up looks pretty sad, if you ask me. Even compared to just a few years ago. Wynton with guest star Bobby Mcferrin thumping on his chest and yodeling, plus another 'young lion' going electric (whew, that's new!)... doesn't really get the old ticker palpitating.

Could anyone tell me who's on the Benny Carter release? The only info I could glean from allmusic is that it's a 1960 UA recording.

If Blue Note does this it will be the most conspicous example of price point marketing that I have ever seen. You really do have to give it to them, they do a great job of sellling the same stuff over and over again!!!.

Not to me, they won't. What an absurd move...

Google turns up nothing other than that it's actually "Sax", not "Six"; it's 1959, not 1960; and that somebody's got a still-sealed LP for sale @ $50.00.

And that the artist is not Benny Carter but actually Benny HILL:

How the fuck did this thread get from 'Blue note new releases' to 'Benny Hill' in just 17 posts???:wacko::wacko::D

Only Organissimo can do this.

Back to Benny Carter ;) :

Bruyninckx lists three LPs for UA:

- Aspects, a big band LP which was on a Capitol CD a few years ago (1958)

- Can-Can and Anything Goes, a quartet LP with Hal Schaefer (?) on piano, Joe Benjamin, Gus Johnson and Ted Somer (1958/1959)

- Quartet, with Jimmy Rowles (!!!), Leroy Vinegar and Mel Lewis (1958/59 or 1962), there was a French Blue Note LP reissue of this.

I hope the CD reissues the latter!

Moose,

I think you missed my tongue firmly in cheek with respect to Blue Note's move. It would be the most brazen of marketing moves and would, I think, really confuse their customers. I mean, form Blue Note's perspective they role out the $19.00 model and when they have sold that to all the die hards (like some of us) they bring out the same thing, call it a different model with more main stream appeal, so to speak, and a new price.$13.00 Sounds like the marketing director of GM back in the 80's just moved over to Blue Note! :g:g

The problem with that strategy is of course, that the die hards catch on pretty quick and next time they bring out the expensive model, folks are much more hesitant to buy. You do have to admire the success of the RVG marketing. I know there is significant audible differences on some of the discs, but many times they are selling the disc to people who already own a copy of the session. Hey, if they bought it once.......:blink: I think this may be the reason Blue Note decided to halt the SACD production. Once everyone has converted to RVG's they can start all over again with SACD's. What a country!!! :g
