Hardbopjazz Posted December 27, 2016 Report Posted December 27, 2016 Actress Carrie Fisher has just passed. Rest in peace Quote
Scott Dolan Posted December 27, 2016 Report Posted December 27, 2016 2016 is the only thing that won't fucking die! Rest peacefully, Princess. Quote
JSngry Posted December 27, 2016 Report Posted December 27, 2016 RIP. Seemed like a woman of substance, actually. Troubled, neurotic, perhaps even self-destructive substance, but still, didn't seem like a bullshitter at all. RIP. Quote
Scott Dolan Posted December 27, 2016 Report Posted December 27, 2016 I agree. She was the real deal, and never tried to sugar coat it or shy away from it. She lived the life, and wore it like a badge of honor. Quote
ejp626 Posted December 28, 2016 Report Posted December 28, 2016 I saw Rogue One in the theatre, which sort of splices itself into Star Wars (#4), since the whole point is to show how Princess Leia ended up with the plans for the Death Star in the first place. (Rogue One did exceed my expectations, BTW). At any rate, my son and I were grabbing lunch after the movie, and he asked me who Carrie Fisher was. I knew, even without turning around, that the news crawl on the TV was going to say she was dead. A disturbance in the force, as it were. I'm so very, very sad that she passed away, though, given that she probably had severe brain damage from not getting enough oxygen right after the heart attack, it is likely for the best... RIP Quote

Scott Dolan Posted December 29, 2016 Report Posted December 29, 2016 And now her mother has also passed. Surreal... Quote
sidewinder Posted December 29, 2016 Report Posted December 29, 2016 I find this whole thing to be very sad. RIP to both of them. Quote

medjuck Posted December 29, 2016 Report Posted December 29, 2016 My meeting with Carrie wasn't quite as memorable but was still funny. She and a writing partner came to our office to pitch an ida for a film. I don't remember the pitch but I do remember that she regaled us with stories about how she had just been introduced to Elizabeth Taylor at a charity event. Quote
Brad Posted December 29, 2016 Report Posted December 29, 2016 RIP to both of them. Obviously, you can never know them but Carrie Fisher had an acerbic view of life that many of us could probably relate to. Quote
catesta Posted December 29, 2016 Report Posted December 29, 2016 I don't know how many of you get the channel Antenna TV but they run The Tonight Show (Carson) every night right after Barney Miller. They did as tribute, the episode what was Carrie Fisher's first appearance after she had already done a couple Star Wars films. Very beautiful, smart and funny. Quote
