mikeweil Posted July 20, 2018 Report Posted July 20, 2018 Perfect music for what is going to be the hottest day of the year, so far .... and to my ears, Jobim's finest US album. That a German wrote the beautiful arrangements with perfect empathy is one of the few things that make me feel fine with being of this nation. Quote

HutchFan Posted July 20, 2018 Report Posted July 20, 2018 Hannibal - African Portraits (Teldec) with Daniel Barenboim, Chicago SO, the Morgan State University Choir, Kennedy-King College Community Chorus, et al I'm just giving this a first listen. The former "Hannibal" Marvin Peterson [now Hannibal Lokumbe] takes on some of the same themes that John Carter explored in his superb Roots and Folklore series. However, unlike Carter's, this music is cast using a full symphony orchestra as well as vocal soloists and choruses. Quote
