jeffcrom Posted August 13, 2018 Report Posted August 13, 2018 Love that Susie Ibarra disc. Now playing: Sam Rivers - Dimensions & Extensions, from the Complete Blue Note Mosaic box. I listened with Chuck's reservations about this session in mind. I understand his qualms, but I mostly like it. There are tunes that only catch fire when Rivers is soloing, and Donald Byrd seems ill at ease - but to me the positives outweigh the negatives. Although if I could only keep one Sam Rivers album, this wouldn't be it. Quote

Misterioso Posted August 13, 2018 Report Posted August 13, 2018 Lee Konitz - Subconscious-Lee (UCCO-5538) Never noticed before that there are two versions of this album with different track orders. This one follows the original 1955 Prestige release (+ one bonus track) while some OJC versions list the tracks in the chronological order of the four recording dates. I actually think the latter is more appealing. Quote
