soulpope Posted January 21, 2019 Report Posted January 21, 2019 Easily one of the best Rhythm Sections on European soil in the late(r) 60`s/early 70`s .... Quote
kinuta Posted January 21, 2019 Report Posted January 21, 2019 Great session but Tyrone Washington sounds as if he's in the kitchen making a cup of tea ! Didn't anyone listen to the playback and order a rerecording ? Seriously, I'd be interested to know how the vinyl sounds. Quote

Seriously, I'd be interested to know how the vinyl sounds. kinuta, I have Brilliant Circles on Arista-Freedom vinyl, but I don't have any recollections re: sound quality. I'll try to give it a spin tonight when I get home from work and see what I hear. 1 hour ago, soulpope said: Easily one of the best Rhythm Sections on European soil in the late(r) 60`s/early 70`s .... I'm with you, soulpope. Another example of their stellar work: Tough Tenors Again 'n' Again Edited January 21, 2019 by HutchFan Quote
JSngry Posted January 22, 2019 Author Report Posted January 22, 2019 Brilliant Corners vinyl (like HutchFan, I have the Arista-Freedom LP) sounds "better" than the CD, but - don't think it sounds "good", it doesn't, only by comparisopn. Definitely one of those sessions where it's a good thing the music is so strong! Quote
Bill Nelson Posted January 22, 2019 Report Posted January 22, 2019 Playing my Andorran CD of 'Brilliant Triangles', I'm slayed by the killer hypotenuse between Woody Shaw and Joe Chambers. Quote

Brilliant Corners sounds great!” Quote
Dharmajazz Posted January 22, 2019 Report Posted January 22, 2019 Been binging on various Woody Herman releases from the different decades, but I’ve been gravitating to some of the recordings with Bill Chase. Jeez, great stuff! Quote

Dharmajazz Posted January 22, 2019 Report Posted January 22, 2019 (edited) Getting ready to steep some freshly ground coffee in the French-press, which will pair nicely with some hard-bop from the Jazz Messengers. This is an ol’ standby. Indestructible has one hell of a front line- Morgan, Shorter, and Fuller. Energy and fire on this one. Morgan’s "Calling Miss Khadija" is such a cool cut; usually spin it twice. Happy listening.
