I find this performance of Debussy's "Syrinx" on tuba (!) by L.A. based Jim Self (he was the voice of the mothership on "Close Encounters") to be both beautiful and amusing:

A very nice pick up this week. Funny I owned only one of his releases on Blue Note "The Real McCoy" till very recently. In the past 2 weeks I've gotten "Time For Tyner", "Expansions" and the above title. This release features some very nice work from Lee Morgan, James Spaulding and Bennie Maupin.
