An interesting line up. Actually, a nice session. I've been trying to get this release for quite some time at an affordable price. Picked this up from Dusty Groove. Now listening Japanese issue. Lee Morgan plays beautifully, and Hank Mobley is in tip top form. Hank solos with both passion and intensity. And to make it even better there are two tunes never previously recorded - "Quick Trick" and "Jimerick". It's a shame it has been hidden in the vaults for so many years. This is , for me, a 5 star album. Totally agree. I had read some negative comments about this recording, so wasn't expecting much, but I was and still am impressed by how good it is. Yes, I dig it too. Agree with all these comments. Terrific sound quality - recorded by the master, Wally Heider. Edited April 19, 2022 by John Tapscott Quote

Kevin Bresnahan Posted April 20, 2022 Report Posted April 20, 2022 James Carter & Cyrus Chestnut - Duets (Atlantic). Although promos were made and sent to radio stations, this session was apparently never released in the US. I see on discogs that a limited edition of 3,000 CDs was done for FNAC in France. I have the US radio promo. Nice date. Quote
