Very loose and imaginative and not too stuck in a swing rhythm when it doesn't want to be. This 3 disc collection has been a revelation and a lot of fun. I checked out Jo Privat on YouTube and was overwhelmingly impressed, so I rounded up a copy of Manouche Partie for myself. Thank you for the excellent recommendation. Quote

Does it collect specific LPs? Discogs is not much help. Quote

jazzbo Posted June 6, 2023 Report Posted June 6, 2023 One of the very few rock/blues/pop persons I still follow, and . . . Wow. This one has the magic for me. Old timey. . .no new. . . late night front porch jam. . . no meticulously recorded studio session. . . . So wonderfully arranged, sequenced and selected. I never paid to view this when it was available, and that doesn’t matter because now I can listen to it and be wrapped up in the spell. Bob Dylan “Shadow Kingdom” Columbia/Sony cd Quote

T.D. Posted June 7, 2023 Report Posted June 7, 2023 Bought this from DG (they did the CD reissue) and it's a really neat album. Mostly straight-ahead, with PL and British musicians incl. David Snell (harp) and Stan Tracey. Quote

It´s only that Dave Liebman was replaced by Sonny Fortune. The Aghartha was easy to purchase but somehow I managed to get also the more difficult to find "Pangheea" where the first tune was the same as the first tune we had heard live here in Vienna before. The fact that I was the guy who also had "Pangheea" and "Dark Magus" somehow upgraded me in our community 🙂 Quote

Justin V Posted June 7, 2023 Report Posted June 7, 2023 (edited) I had to look it up, but Rachel Z had to have been one of my first jazz concerts by a nationally known musician. It was with Buster Williams and the drummer from this date, Bobbie Rae, in 2003. I can't believe it was so long ago. Edited June 7, 2023 by Justin V Quote
