jazzbo Posted June 5, 2024 Report Posted June 5, 2024 This is one I have bought three times. The 2 LP set is gorgeous. The US cd was really nice sounding. Then I bought the Japanese SHM-CD version and was really surprised how superior it sounds to the US cd. A marvelously recorded session played by real masters. And James created a deeply moving tribute to Billie–without singing like Billie at all or even arranging the material in a way that mimicked or echoed the way the material was done for Billie. A very impressive work. Jose James “Yesterday I had the Blues–the Music of Billie Holiday” Blue Note Japan SHM-CD Quote
