Getting ready to unbox the new computer and replace my cherished 15 year old one that, mechanically, still works great, but has probs with old software and browsers. I'm having to reorganize my filing systems since I'll no longer have the luxury of drive "drawers" that I have now in my older Mac Tower. Anyway, it also comes at a time when I've just uploaded my 2,000,000th tune to my iTunes [which, I guess will soon be "Apple Music"(?)]. I'm also gonna miss the two CD drawers that I've used for over a quarter century to upload discs to the collection. Oh well..."progress" marches on...

This is #2,000,000:

though I don´t have that album from the great iugoslav trumpetist Dușco Goicovici it must be an extraordinar one with them great musicians, I´d say some of the very best. Like a Dream Band !

I had first heard Dușco on an Enia Record titled "After Hours" .

The thing with Woody Shaw, I have an album of them playing at Uncle Poe´s in Hamburg, Germania, and it is great.
But I was a bit astonished that the most prominent of them all, Woody Shaw did not get top billing,
Stafford James remained Woody´s bassist, but I saw him with Tony Reedus on drums, who was also great !

Reaching back to the earliest cd version I have retained of “Miles in Berlin”–the SBM Master Sound lp facsimile version, which is sounding mighty good this morning.

This was the earliest concert of the Quintet with Wayne Shorter released before this year’s box set of recordings in '63 and '64 in France. And it has long been a favorite since the LP version was first released way back when in the US as part of a 2 LP set.

“Miles in Berlin” Sony SRCS 9708 cd

Martial Solal's MPS recordings deserve an official box set treatment -- even though it'll probably never happen.  I think they're the most consistently interesting albums of his career.
