jazzbo Posted January 1 Report Posted January 1 Herbie Nichols, "Love, Gloom, Cash, Love" Bethlehem/Solid Records Japan cd 2024 It's been too long since this has spun and I am once more amazed at the beauty throughout this disc. The touch Nichols has, his wonderful use of the pedals, the orchestral textures he can create with his pianism. Wow. Quote

Gheorghe Posted January 1 Report Posted January 1 Got it for Chrismas ! Definitely the BEST THING I have heard this year. So beautiful ! Pharoah Sanders is one of my very special favourites from almost my beginnings of listenig to music ! Quote
jazzbo Posted January 1 Report Posted January 1 (edited) A new year. . . a new snowfall. About an inch. The bare trees are beautiful again! Stayed up til the ball dropped . . .with an effort and got to sleep seven hours and feel my head full of fog. Not used to that much sleep! Starting off the new year with a new acquisition from discogs.com — some Swedish jazz. Arne Domnérus “Arne Domnérus” Four Leaf Clover Records 2 cd set, disc 1 This disc has American Jimmy Rowles on piano and vocals joins the alto saxophonist, which is the main reason I purchased it. Teasing the Korean Posted January 1 Report Posted January 1 (edited) Last night, at around 11 pm, we listened to this: while watching on mute this: The juxtapositions were fantastic. 11 hours ago, jazzbo said: Herbie Nichols, "Love, Gloom, Cash, Love" Bethlehem/Solid Records Japan cd 2024 It's been too long since this has spun and I am once more amazed at the beauty throughout this disc. The touch Nichols has, his wonderful use of the pedals, the orchestral textures he can create with his pianism. Wow. I got this in high school, an out-of-phase LP reissue with revised cover art. It was an important gateway album out of jazz and into space age bachelor pad music. I eventually got the much better sounding CD, with the original cover art. Pim Posted January 1 Report Posted January 1 Interesting stuff, some solo bass, overdubbed bass, electronics and a duet with Joachim Kuhn, one with Christof Lauer. Quote
