Strange, I know of course each sideman here (ok, Pat Martino only the name, I´m not such a bit guitar fan), but I have never heard the name of the leader.

both are favourites of mine.

Especially Jackie Mc Lean: This was the first album I heard from him. And I saw almost the same personnel live, with Bobby Hutcherson instead of Walter Davis.....
I love all Wayne Shorter albums for Blue Note. I saw him live much later but there was nothing of the energy and driving force from those BlueNote albums. Usually I´m not the conservative guy who looks only back (I would have been the last person to compare "KOB" with "Agharta"), but the Wayne Shorter I had heard 2005 just bored me, incredible....

Super cold. Fiona the dachshund and I had a restless night and gave up trying to sleep soundly.

This set was still out so spinning the other disc.

Wayne Shorter “Celebration Vol. 1” Blue Note 2 cd set, NOW disc 1

Bobby Hutcherson 'Classic Blue Note Sessions' Mosaic set, CD2 - 'Dialogue' and 'Components'.

The sonics of this set give the Tone Poet LPs a serious run for their money, to my ears.

And how do they both compare to the 1st press LPs which I expect you also have?

I have a 'Dialogue' and I'm flirting with a 'Components' but I could buy the Mosaic and have change, but no lovely LP ans sleeve to hold...

I do have good original LPs of both of those titles - and the Tone Poet of 'Dialogue'. Not played them for a while but it is swings and roundabouts I think. There would likely be higher fidelity but possibly at the expense of somebsurface noise. At the end of the day it will probably depend on your LP and/or CD playback equipment but what I am finding with the Mosaic is that it is more than adequate and noise-wise dead quiet. A great set - the people who gave taken over CD mastering at Mosaic are doing a brilliant job.

And this is the only documentation we have of Dexter's score for the Hollywood production of THE CONNECTION.

Really enjoying these early Lee Morgan records, largely because of the RVG program back in the day.
