I dismissed these years ago as commercial stuff but decided to return to them after all these years with this set, and there really is some fine music here! Good sound too.

Maynard's fine British band. Yep. Definitely pretty good for the time period. A few tracks on each album transcend the era.

Now:

Chicago / Austin High School Jazz In Hi-Fi, Primary, 1 of 2

Angel Bat Dawid - A modern cosmic apocalyptic sonic discourse for The Book of Enoch

First listen to this. It seems pretty bad. Like a Stereolab offcut.

Have you read The Book(s) of Enoch?

You can more than safely add M.F. Horn 4&5: Live at Jimmy's

After that, hey...all bets are off

The next one 4/5 is excellent.

I see I am beaten to the punch.

Yes. The three main ones, in Charlesworth's translation (I haven't kept up my Ge'ez and old Church Slavonic have been getting rusty since I left primary school).

Going to be warm today, my wife will welcome that. But it will get hot up here in the listening area!

Starting off with the Mobile Fidelity Lab One Step of Miles Davis Bitches Brew.

I believe this is the only album where Rollins and McLean both play.

I found Art Blakey's drum work highly impressive, especially on the tune "Denial".

Miles playing On the tune "Bluing" also, to my ears,  was damn good.

Had not played this album in a very long time, and was slightly surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

Just wondering what, if any, connection there was to the album.

Have considered acquiring this before, but physical media scarce.

Yes, it's an EXCELLENT album.  Probably Beirach's strongest in this century.

Regarding the album's scarcity: Has OutNote gone belly up?  I hope not.
