Sonny Greenwich is the surprise, he's edgy and brings a different sound to the table. 6 hours ago, HutchFan said: One of my favorites by Jarrett's "American Quartet." Good stuff. 4 hours ago, jazzcorner said: Jazz West JWLP-6 (Japan GXF 3128) - Jack Sheldon " The Quartet & The Quintet" - rec. 1954/1955 - Engineer: John Kraus Superior West Coast. ghost of miles Posted 17 hours ago Report Posted 17 hours ago I loved this series back in the day but never came across this one till recently. As always I already have many of the tracks, but there are also often stray ones that I don’t, and I like the compilation concepts (which were even more compelling in the pre-Spotify playlist era). The title says it all with this one… not to mention the cover! Quote
jazzbo Posted 6 hours ago Report Posted 6 hours ago Finally getting to sit in front of the stereo after a morning of activity. It’s cold out there! Starting off with John Coltrane, “Dakar,” a session I have always liked produced by Teddy Charles for Prestige, pairing Coltrane with baritone saxophonists Pepper Adams and Cecil Payne, with Mal Waldron, Doug Watkins and Art Taylor. Sounding really good in the mastering from this box set: Quote

jazzbo Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago "The Complete In A Silent Way Sessions" disc 1 I haven't listened to this set in a long time, and I haven't heard the remix version of "Filles De Kilimanjaro" in a long time. Such a blast from my past. Quote
