Bluesnik Posted January 15, 2020 Report Posted January 15, 2020 Perfect pairing of Rollins with Jim Hall, who is both astonishing at single notes and chords, or best, a mixture of both. Quote

jazzbo Posted January 15, 2020 Report Posted January 15, 2020 (edited) John Coltrane, "Ballads" Japan Platinum SHM-CD. Again. . . it sounds so good. This is the best sounding version of this release I have heard. Love this session. It really stands out. Edited January 15, 2020 by jazzbo Quote

IMO Mood releases were a mixed bag, some brilliant (like the Dauner solo album), others heavily over-produced (like the Voices LP or the Head, Heart & Hands. I'll open a thread on the label. Quote
jazzbo Posted January 15, 2020 Report Posted January 15, 2020 Right now disc 2 of Charles Lloyd "Montreux Jazz Festival 1967" on TCB. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted January 15, 2020 Report Posted January 15, 2020 With Sonny Grey, George Arvanitas, Jimmy Gourley, Jackie Samson and Charles Saudrais. Quote
Justin V Posted January 15, 2020 Report Posted January 15, 2020 (edited) Discs 4 and 5, the Mr. Natural session: With a rhythm section of McCoy, Cranshaw, Elvin and Barretto, the groove is so damn deep (and Lee up front!). I only got this set last year (for $50, discs sealed) and it is such a fine set. Edited January 15, 2020 by Justin V Quote
