I like it. I like Borca, period.

In fact, NP:

I might "like" this one a bit better, everybody's younger, it's groups (damn good ones), plus it's live ( in every way), but those are ultimately irrelevant differences. People like Karen Borca come to play, period, always.

Thanks.

I see that she is the bassoonist on those Jimmy Lyons and CT records. So I'll definitely follow these up.

She was married to Lyons too, for what that's worth if anything when it comes to their musical relationship

It does explain why she'd be playing with that group of musicians.

Oh cool. That's a Tone Poet I might buy. It is been a while since that was reissued in any vinyl form. How is it?

It sounds great.  Unfortunately, it's not available for retail.  You can only buy it if you sign up for the Tone Poet Society which offers an exclusive release each quarter.  The 1st exclusive was this one:

Well, I shall keep eyes peeled for it in the second hand racks. Those Tone Poets turn up, and any reissue of that record is welcome.

The Jimmy Lyons box on Ayler Records is a treasure trove of both Lyons and Borca.

They were married ya' know!

A late start today, and did some rectifier rolling–settled for now on a Bendix 5R4WGB.

Pulled this one from the shelves and am enjoying the sound and playing a LOT.

Joshua Redman (saxophone), Brad Mehldau (piano), Christian McBride (bass), and Brian Blade (drums)
