I've heard some of the cassettes. Not going to change anybody's mind, but I found the music to have integrity within itself, and also to be surprisingly accessible.

Her singing on these  is surprisingly (or maybe not) "churchy", in the African-American way, many of the songs are as well. People expecting drone-y micro-tonal melismatic trance music might find themselves very surprised, one way or the other.

I believe you can only view a limited number of articles per month before the paywall kicks in. I'm not sure of all the details as I'm a subscriber, but I've hit the paywall before when my preferred mobile Twitter client failed to properly pass my credentials from a previous login through to the New Yorker's site.

Not bad, imho. I learned something new. It's certainly better than Amanda Petrusich's piece on Sonny Rollins in the same magazine.
